Westmassguy - did you extend the leads of the top mounted capacitor and run them back down through the board on the bottom to solder? If so, they must be carefully routed or insulated around the lower mounted stuff? Thx!

I used long screws and nylock nuts to support my secondary boards when I rebuilt my Monitor 7 crossovers. I extended the leads by soldering on cutoff solid lead pieces from some other components then heat shrink over them to insulate. Worked out great!

JayMX - those look very nice! I ended up stacking the caps with hot glue. I didn't realize metal screws would suffice, and the plastic standoffs and threaded posts added up to about $45...
Anyway, all said and done, the speakers sound odd to me now. I don't hear bass guitars with clarity, though I do hear lower bass and higher mids. The tweeters sound great, but there's a muddiness / quietness to that particular frequency range of the bass guitars in rock music, lower mids / bass - almost missing. I understand that's covered by the 34uF cap on the crossover, which is where I stacked a 15uF and 18uF by Clarity. I might have to adjust to the new sound, but I think I preferred the open, light, more full clarity of the lows before this rebuild project.
