Good job Polk. You have destroyed this forum.
Edit: What happened to the 'Reason' text box for editing a post?
Anyway, I deleted 99% of this post. Too negative.
Thanks for the 1 hour edit time, although infinite is best for that.

Yeah, it seems most of the regulars aren't around much; what a bummer.
Perhaps a new PFB thread where he gets s c r e w e d out of a couple g's, or he sends his gear to India when it should have gone to Indiana?
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Regulars, or anyone else. That's a shame since even if I don't respond to a thread that doesn't mean I don't mind reading itLumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

It has been slow. This is what happens when you tick off a bunch of old codgers with some money to spend as they please.

All the old bookmarks/favorites don't work, and there's no re-direct to the new forum.
The Polk Home Page has the Forum at the bottom under resources. It should be up top, in plain view, so everyone can find the new forumHome Theater/2 Channel:

Very true Tony. I wonder if they really thought this through, or if it just came up flippantly at some meeting. -

It's not just RED, it's all the rest of the clutter. It's hard just to find where a post starts amongst the singatures and headers. The "Flag, Quote, ..." markers and avatars do not make for quick scanning of posts. I tuned signatures off to make it more readable, although I would prefer to leave them on.
The not being able to search old posts with Google is just stupid. It's harder to find old posts - which contains some of the most valuable audio advise. Why wouldn't you want to have it searchable in Google? That is a great way to attract new people. Someone new to audio is looking for info on a specific audio question (but doesn't know about Polk Audio) searches with Google for an answer. The question has a good chance that someone here already answered here, but it will not be referred to here. Half the links returned by Google are dead.
Polk, here's a clue... Google "Best polk speakers". Nothing on Google returns a *valid* link to Polk's site or this forum. -

Don't care for the layout or the format so I do spend less time here. Time will tell if I will get familiar enough with it to post more often.
I think it's terrible all the links, pics, how to's, etc from the old forum are just gone. It's depressing actually that there wasn't any forethought to maintain access to that wealth of collective, and informative info.

As with all things with time they come and go. Sad, but I am going to speculate this Forum will not be here in a year or two. I hope that I am wrong. I've loved this place. I have made many friends and learned a lot about audio.

it's a command language of sorts for bulletin boards. For example, to embed a linked image, the link is bracketed with IMG and /IMG (each 'command' enclosed in square brackets).
Thus:
:- )
or I and /I around text to be reproduced in italics
or B and/B around text to be emboldened
etc.
If you quote this post you'll see the embedded commands -- and the body of this post between QUOTE and /QUOTE commands :- ) -
this is a comment on ease of use of tech much more than this site.
Ten years ago, it was a foregone conclusion that those with few tech skills could someday just breeze through simple operations as the highly paid, overly glorified nerds perfected intuitive use of computers.
all i see is the simplified ripping off of private info and money as more sheep become willing to trust tech with their most pertinent info, usually as big money limits their options.
i mean really, i should have to understand whether my operating system should interface with the bracketed info encaPSULATING MY BLAH BLAH BLAH just to post my pics of my cable routing .

I fully understand the frustration, but Mark is only trying to be helpful.
I first encountered computers during the 80286 processor period, giant floppy disks, unwieldy partitions that made no sense, no real hard drives. Speeds of 8 Mhz. Tedious, tedious, tedious. (Actually, my first encounter was before that in college with piles of Fortran cards--with a bunch of Engineers in the class who ran circles around me because they had studied the language for YEARS), lol
It doesn't matter WHO you are there is ALWAYS someone who knows something at a DEEPER level than you do, to whom you will be beholden to if you need his/her services.
Reminds me of a story about conversations between the great Albert Einstein and Carl Jung (colleague/student of Freud and founder of his own school). Einstein talked to Jung about his theories many times and Jung did what he could to follow him (Jung himself was a brilliant man in his own field). One day, Einstein asked Jung to tell him a little about Analytical Psychology, Jung's school. Jung smiled because he knew his TURN had come and so he began with more than a modicum of delight.
The important thing is that we "listen" to each other even when that proves trying and difficult. And if we want to share/learn, we need to leave those Ph.D.s and other degrees in our pocket, out of sight out of mind and pull out that humility card from our wallet!
And that goes DOUBLE for the TECHS who are "working" on this site. "Listen" to what's being said, change what is possible. Some of that IS happening, maybe not enough but the chain of communication here is very very very very long and far far away. And that's part of the problem. When I used to part time Beta Test, all I had to do is walk down the hall and hand my report to the Programmers who could read it and could correct the problem or ask me if I was not clear enough as a "user"? That's NOT what is going on here! The distance and time is much much much greater.

You don't have to understand it -- there are funny little icons that do all the dirty work for you... but (speaking only for myself!) I find it easier, and more satisfying, to use the commands rather than remember what all of the icons are! I am one of those folks who is most comfortable understanding the technology I use (which, in fact, is why I eschew certain 'technological advancements'; I don't get 'em!). I would like to think I am a also, consequently, a little less likely to get sucked in by high-cost, low value "audiophile" products -- claims for which often flout the fairly well-established "laws" of physics (be they Newtonian or Einsteinian!), not to mention logic. I won't offer any examples ;- ) -
