CRS Crossovers Wanted

Any one happen to have a pair of sda crs crossovers lying around?
Story goes, I just purchased a pair off craigslist along with a set of celestion DL8's. The guy hooked them up for me and all the drivers worked good. For the price, I eagerly packed them into my car, gave the guy the money, and returned home. Upon removing the drivers (one of them froze up on the car ride home ), I discovered someone had gutted out all crossover materials except the main cup and all the driver wires were duck taped together.. Yikes! So now the search begins for a pair of crossovers to rebuild these. An extra mw6503 woofer might be good too until I figure out how to do that voodoo magic behind realigning magnets.
Thanks!
Any one know if I could I use a pair of the sda 2b crossovers as substitute?

Are they the original CRS or the CRS+?Political Correctness'.........defined

They are the original crs with two tweeters

Ok, that makes things a lot more difficult. Those use a 2 board crossover meaning you can't use Gimpod's boards or boards from the 2B's. Check eBay for original CRS boards as building new point to point boards would be expensive. You could also check with member Westmassguy to see if he has any laying around.Political Correctness'.........defined

...additionally, you can call Polk as they stock the 6503 driver. Mention you're a Club Polk forum member to receive a discount and free shipping in the continental US.Jay

I have a pair of early CRS speakers that are for parts. They still sounded great."Make a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light

What's the reasoning for leaving out the one tweeter. I do not have an interconnect cable yet but I will probably end up making one. I also own a pair of the 2A's which will need one. How are the CRS formatted without the cable? Is it just one tweeter and one woofer? I would kind of prefer to have all the drivers working if I could

Polk eliminated the dimensional tweeter after the 2nd, generation because it can actually degrade the sound quality, and interaural crosstalk cancellation.
They discovered that most of the dimensional cues occur below 2KHz, and having a dimensional tweeter can add odd artifacts, and a phasey sound quality with certain recordings.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Hmm alright. Is there a way to still run the second tweeter in phase or will I not notice the missing tweeter? Same question for my 2A's, won't the highs get drowned out by only having 2 tweeters instead of 4 running with 6 mids?
-
No, disconnect it. 2As only have 1 tweeter. Sounds like you have 2sHome Theater/2 Channel:

Yes sorry, I have the 2's. I suppose I will go the route of one tweeter each. I know TNTsTunes is checking up on a pair of the original crossovers that he is parting out. I can just disconnect one set of the tweeters.

Just disconnect the outer tweeter on each, and tape off the wires for now. The 84 CRS lacks the bass output of the later 3rd and 4th generations. The 2rd generation CRS doesn't have the "Full Compliment Sub-Bass Drive Circuit".
Your 2s, which are the same generation, made up for this by adding a 3rd woofer called the bass driver. It supplemented the deep bass that's compromised by the dimensional woofer. The CRS doesn't have a third woofer.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Interesting. So are you saying that I would be better off with a pair of the CRS+ crossovers because they have the added Bass Drive Circuit?
-
Yes, since you're lacking crossovers altogether, 3rd or 4th generation will work. The 3rd generation is compatible with the drivers you have, but the 4th generation would require MW6511s for the dimensional side.Home Theater/2 Channel:

You said you had a pair right? Which gen?
-
Mine are 3rd generation. There are a few caveats with the 3rd generation however. 1st, is the large caps in the sub-base drive circuit. Two 130uf caps in parallel, or 260uf per speaker. You're also limited to common ground amps, as they're not compatible with the AI-1or Dreadnaught for use with non common ground amps.Home Theater/2 Channel:

That should be fine. I believe the SDA 2's need common ground as well if I've read correctly. Eventually I'd be interested in running a surround sound with both sets. Either way I'll still be buying common ground amps. I'll PM you for more info
