Using Peerless from M7s for RTA12s

I just got a pair of M7s w Peerless and am hoping to possibly use them in my RTA12s whose Peerless tweeters work intermittently.
The 7s are in good but not stellar shape. I have another pair of 7s w/ the SL2500 (I think) so I can use those and part the other for my 12s if possible.
One of the Peerless of the 7s was not working when I got them. I replaced the fuse and pulled the tweeter to check for loose wire but all were tightly soldered.
Is there a way to "jump start" a nonworking Peerless? It looks fine from the outside. I notice what looks like foam behind the central hole on both tweeters. My RTA12s Peerless don't have the foam and I am wondering if this is a later design change.
Lastly, I think I've read I can't use the 7s MW in the RTA 12s b/c of ohm diff. Is that correct?
Thx!

There is a Peerless clone available from Midwest Speaker. They look almost the same as the original Peerless but no hole in the middle. I have compared them to original Peerless in my RTA 12c's and they sound good. I still would say I prefer the sound of the original Peerless but the clones are a good option.

You can't "Jump Start" a tweeter. It either works or it doesn't. Check the DCR of the defective tweeter. It should be somewhere between 5 and 7 ohms.
Polk's 6.5" drivers from that era may all look the same, but will have very different T/S parameters. There should be a label on the back of the magnet for each driver, that will list the model #. Some are somewhat interchangeable, but most are not.Home Theater/2 Channel:
