For the very best who seem to be so comfortable in the squared circle, it is no accident. They start early!

    The master at work.

Text book stuff. The meaning of fighting behind the jab.
This is for the purist. No brawling. No blocking punches with your face..well unless you are on the receiving end of the master's speed and precision punches.

    Classic boxer v puncher.

    Yep.
Unfortunately some or most of them are troubled individuals who never outgrow their demons.

Other good examples would be Hector "Matcho" Camacho , Arturo "Thunder" Gatti , etc

    Edwin Valero...

27-0, with first 18 fights ending in 1st round (T)KO. The 19th ended the streak with a 2nd round TKO.

As for boxing vs MMA, I believe both have their place out there. Boxing attracts the martial arts best strikers and also is the much bigger money scene. MMA attracts the newer crowd and is fun to watch at times but can be extremely boring as well if all they do is dry hump each other.

Currently I find boxing more interesting, especially with the likes of GGG and Kovalev fighting. YMMV.

You know it is a brutal knockout when the ref does not even bother counting!
It is a fight i have mixed feelings about.
There was such a huge difference in size that i wondered why it was even made in the first place.

Another of my favorites was Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini.. Below is a clip that changed his life as well as a lot of boxing rules.

Duk Koo Kim died a few days later, sad as this was a war. This clip starts with round 12, watch how hard they go to the end in round 14.

UPSETS in boxing are something to behold.

Its always interesting to see the favorite, usually the home fighter go up against a relative unknown.

The favorite always gets all the hype and is sold as the next big thing and the opponent is usually there to well...be an oppenent.
Take your lumps, make a few dollars and disappear into oblivion while the favorite's career moves on to bigger and better things.

Some how sombody always forgets to provide that script to the unknown and after it is all over the unknown becomes a new force to be reckoned with and sometimes avoided like the plague! He is no longer a secret.

There are many examples out there.

Here is one of my favorites.

I saw the Duk Koo Kim fight and it left a scar on me, he just kept getting up. I was just glad to see Gomache recover but it ended his career. Gatti would lose all this weight to make the fight and then put on almost 20 pounds by fight time, think they finally changed the rules cause that fight.

That was also a great one.. There have been many over the years, MMA is great but no replacement for the great boxers.

One of my favorites was watching Frankie "The sergeon Randall" beat Chavez. I grew up with him and boxed with him at the local Boys Club in Morristown TN.
