I may be out of my league....

Local shop has a pair of $100k speakers on display---they asked if I wanted to listen---expecting to be blown away I said "SURE!"
I came away thinking "meh"---honestly I thought the $3K speakers they had sounded better---and I can't afford those either
Maybe I'm just peon on a hamburger diet living in a steak world and don't know any better--who knows -
Everybody starts with a modest system, and enjoys the hell out of it. Some are lucky to pursue a bit more detail from their gear. It's their money, so let them spend it on whatever turns them on. This periodic whining about higher priced gear always comes across as either insecurity, jealousy, or both.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

I've slowly built up a modest rig, and am planning to keep slowly upgrading to some level.
I got my lsi15's a couple years ago and I would sit at work literally craving to go home and listen to some tunes. They sounded that good compared to what I had before.
Slow upgrades and evaluating/enjoying each one has been fun for me.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -
Another one worth mentioning is Audioadvisor, anyone get that catalogue? A bunch of phony pictures with supposed customer "quotes" on how a $400 power cable made their system sound more spacious, provided deeper bass, and lifted a veil, etc. Here are a couple examples since I got a copy right here...
"I have cleaner sound with more layering and depth to the music compared to the stock power cord. Certainly the Pangea is a great value!" -Bob J, WA
"These exceptionally well made, low priced power cables beat the sonic alchemy of my $4,000 high end power cords! I am astounded by their dynamic, organic and grain free presentation." -Dave B, PA
Notice how they won't name the brand of the $4000 cable....lol. Got to be careful not to step on toes.
I agree, the mention of the $4k cable is just playing to those who think cables are all the same. Also, I don't think Pangea has a $400 cable. Of course, pricing such as "Regular price $400, our price $69.99" doesn't count.
With that said, Pangea power cords started me on a power cord and power conditioner journey. I started with Pangea AC-14 cords, heard an improvement, and now after spending $30k on power cables and power conditioners I am happy with that aspect in my two channel system. The HT/spare stereo is a little bit behind.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Don't sweat it man. Good sound can be had at any level and that's a fact.
