Mrs. H is birding this morning :-)
I am "planning" (as much as I plan anything -- "ready, fire, aim" is my motto!) to run Blue Rondo through a couple more phono preamps -- I think I'll pull snippets of each recording into WAV files small enough to e-mail; mrbiron, could you PM me your e-mail address when you get a chance? I may have it somewhere... but the odds of my unearthing it are small.

    Further details as events warrant!

urkey-durkey -- here's my current fiendish plan rev.
I've recorded good ol' Blue Rondo on three different phono preamps (well, four, but that's another story...).
I've then taken the first thirty seconds of each recording and exported it to a WAV file. These are 'bout 5 MB; i.e., e-mailable.

    What a kludge! ;-)

That fourth phono preamp. Well. I recorded ol Dave & the boys via the JLTi preamp -- got all the way through & realized I had 100 ohm loading resistors on it (with the b&o MMC-4, which AFAIK wants the traditional 47k loading of an MM - though it is technically an MI cartridge). Changed the loading resistors -- and now I've got too much gain (set to the MM gain) -- for some reason, Audacity has some input adjustment, but I cannot get the USB line inputs attenuated enough -- I've poked and prodded at various mixer and level controls I found in Audacity and Windows... but still kinda perplexed :-P

...when last we met our feckless vinylista, he was, in fits and starts, trying to build a catalog of digital recordings of various phono preamps...

I realize that this may be a quixotic undertaking, but so be it.

As above, my early experiments used Blue Turk a la Rondo as the test article (source). The only problem with this track is its length (a bit over 5 minutes). I'd rather have something shorter; pop-song length (three-ish minutes) -- just because I am impatient!

It doesn't have to be a pop track, it can be any kind of music. I am looking for suggestions for a great sounding, (ideally) dynamic and pleasant track to use as a "test article"... oh, and in the perfect world, I should have a copy of it on hand and in good condition!

I figured it was well worth the effort to ask in this thread!
Mrbiron, I will finish up with your Bugle 2 soon! I just need a couple of rainy days to devote to this project -- I am hoping for one later today!

    Thanks for your consideration.

S.O.D.? Drawin' a blank here (remember, I am an old guy - there were still only 48 states the year I was born).

Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust might not be a bad choice, come to think of it...

Should rain today. I'm trying to avoid the "grass" till then. Wet grass is about as fiendish as "I" can get. lol

Arlington, MA? :- ) Nice place to be for "close in"!

Yeah, you really should c'mon up sometime! It is beautiful up this way in the fall (as it is, of course, in most of MA). Whole family's welcome, too!

I had "meant" to finish up the phono preamp project while my wife was on the West coast last week... but last week came and went. Part of the "problem" is that the weather's been too danged good; been working outside instead of upstairs!

As always -- further details when events warrant.

Oh I didn't move to Arlington, that's where my current job is. Unfortunately, it looks like I will soon be working near Hartford for the next 2 years so freedom will be nonexistent.

Don't you have a bunch of "turkeys" that tend to your lawn??

we're s'posed to get a killing frost tonight (actually, it sounds like at least parts of MA are, too)... so, yeah... unfortunately, winter is already getting to be conceivable here. So it goes.
