Its only worth what someone is willing to pay....I have more of an issue with shipping than the ebay process....lately I've seen some really beat up stuff end up on my doorstep...I don't think the shipping industry was ready for e-commerce...pisses me off...

Some of that I can go along with, but your equating economic theory to social movement, too many variables in that to fault one theory or another. As far as what works in China....western economic theories, like I said not all theories will work inside a given political system.

Also, some economic theories are based on social movement, or lack there of, on purpose. Except it gets so convoluted that it really isn't an economic theory anymore and becomes more of a controlling factor.

The differences I see, is reality is far separated from what is taught in books. Unless we grasp how the real world works, what the means to the ends are, no book or college course can decipher the rights and wrongs of economic theory. They can guide you, throw in culture and histories and formulate a customized economic path forward, but until it's put into practical use and principles adhered to, means little.

We can talk about this for pages....but, what does this all have to do with an Ebay listing ? LOL
God forbid you and I ever sit down together, we'd need a bar that's open 24/7 because we'd never shut up.

You're right Tony. Neither one of us can shut up, it would be comparable to that first meeting between Freud and Jung where they talked non-stop for over 12 hours, I believe! lol

Guys- it's not rocket science. People get all caught up in winning, as opposed to thinking about it.
I bid on ebay on a lot of stuff. And win very little. I set limits, and most of the stuff I've been
bidding on has gone crazy. 40 year old stereo gear that's never been serviced isn't worth
$1000. I can buy modern gear that beats it hands down when you hit those ranges.
Once in a while you find a perfect one that has been restored. But the $5 finds they
wipe off and put on ebay, no thanks.

I agree with you. The prices on ebay are pretty nutty and so are some bidders; I've kept myself off for a while because of much of that.

I mean three or four thousand+ for a vintage receiver that has had a handful of caps replaced and a Deox bath! RIGHT! I don't care how rare it is or if it is "monster" class.

Or the boys who sell SDAs for astronomical prices that make most members here "chuckle" and shake their heads!

Oh well! Let them eat "cake"! No wait, they'd probably sell it on ebay?

Okay so that 1010 that went for $405 + shipping is back up on eBay by the same seller. What does that mean? The seller had a "friend" artificially bumping up the price against the other real person that was bidding in effort to get more money but ended up going higher than the real person was willing, **** himself? ...or the buyer flaked out after the sale was over?

I'm an unabashed Sansui fanboy, and I make no bones about it.

BUT, having said that, this Ebay offering falls into my "WTH" category.

Very nice tuner. I take comfort in the fact that there 25 other idiots (aka "watchers") viewing this offering.

Even local CL ads have caught $$$$$ fever.
$1k for an unrestored sansui 9090

A few mods to a stock TU9900 (which was great out of the box) and it was world class.
The only mod I'd make on a CT-7000 would be to superglue a Sansui name badge on the faceplate.
Sure, it'd look cheesy, but ....

...did I mention that I'm a Sansui fanboy ? The boys at Yamaha did knock it out of the park with the CT-7000, though.
But for $1K+, a person might consider putting up an antenna tower in the back yard.
