I was reading some other threads here earlier and was checking out the SDA handbook links . I never realized mine had four MW6503 and four MW6511. In each speaker. When I took them apart a year ago to do the JB weld and Dynamatting and Larry's rings I wrote down where each speaker was in the cabinet to put them back the same way. I do not remember noticing two different part numbers on them? I pulled top left and bottom left on right speaker tonight and both are MW6503. Can someone tell me placement order for all eight drivers in the right and left speakers? My model is the 1.2 transition model with thirteen crossover cover bolts. As always thanks for any help. Peace. D

So Sal says that the outside speaker is the stereo row 6503 and the inside row is the dimensional 6511 row. I don't recall ever thinking that specific tidbit through.

6503's are the stereo drivers and are on the inside, 6511's are the dimensional and are on the outside.

Read the diagram carefully, since Sal's posts and my interpretations of his video post while he was posting text are clearly at odds with the diagram and thus wrong. I always thought Dims are to the outside.

Thanks again, Dave. Lots of info gets thrown around here misunderstood and misstated.

This thread is a perfect example of how our favorite speaker line with some of the most sophisticated crossover networks ever put in a cabinet, can so easily get screwed up over the years of multiple ownership and tinkering and not be performing to spec. Lots to go wrong with 12 drivers in a cab and multiple sets of signals firing at different levels of power and intensities. At times I wonder if a numbering system and hard wiring might have eliminated some of this issue (ala Bose 901). Then again, they never intended them to be user serviceable pieces.......

The MW6511's should be on the far left (outside) of the left speaker, and the far right (outside) on the right speaker. This is by design, and the schematic shows this ito be true. Alternatively, the MW6503's are on the left side (inside) on the right speaker, and on the right side (inside) on the left speaker. The 3.1TL's are the same way (with fewer drivers of course).

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Dennis, the early 901s, Series I & II used 8 ohm drivers in a rather complex Series/Parallel configuration. The later Series III through VI are a simple Series configuration.

Sal, that is wrong. It should be the other way around.
