Hello , I have been a member for sometime but have never posted. Just bought these yesterday. Not sure if these are the TL model yet , they have had 5 of the tweeters replaced and one of the connectors on the back is damaged but still works, they did come with the SDA cord. Cabinets are in good condition, this is a photo of them still in the sellers home. Picked them up for 500.00. I have had rt 2000i, a couple rta models, and are just selling some sda 1cs tomorrow. Probably have had 10 different models and I loved them all, my least favorite was the rt2000i, I liked them just not as much as the older models.
Anyway, just wanted to show my new project, very excited!!!

Five of the tweeters are SL2000's and the other three are SL3000's. If the SL2000's are the replacements you have SDA SRS 1.2TL's. However, I suspect the SL3000's are the replacements in which case you have SDA SRS 1.2's.

If you remove one of the front panels (do not remove the center bolt) you will find a number on the crossover, either BE2000-B or BE2000-C.

And I jumbled my letters on the post title. I have no excuse.

Anyway just wanted to post a few more photos I have. The first is the screwed up connector, this is how the previous owner had them hooked up. I am going to make better jumpers and some new parts. only other thing is some of the tweeters need upgraded. I don't know enough about these to know which are the upgraded tweeters (as you can see some have been replaced), I am thinking the total black ones are the originals. Any advice would be appreciated.
I am kind of new to the forum posting thing, I was born before the Apollo 11 moon landing if that is a good reference point.

Ok , he replaced 5 of the tweeters. So it sounds like these may be TLs? Did I overpay? I am thinking from what I read that i got a good deal here.

The SL3000 on the left speaker is blown. So I will be replacing that one and the other 2 3000s on the right speaker.

I can tell you that those mid-drivers have been removed before. The two wire leads should be pointing down and yours are all over the place. You should remove all the mid-drivers to check they are the proper ones in the proper place, but first pull a crossover to see which model you have.

Only an idiot would replace SL3000's with SL2000's.

He probably just bought what he could get for less. He was not very attached to these, he got them from an estate sale. Young fella, nice but just did not know much about what he had. I knew what they were.
Ok so I need to replace the 2000s with the 3000s. Got it.

Replace all of them with RDO-198's, then we can talk about rebuilding those nasty old crossovers.

Just refreshed my memory, those are SDA SRS 1.2TL's because the crossover plate has only one bolt in the middle. That said, you can't buy new SL3000's and used ones aren't worth bothering with. As nooshinjohn stated, you should replace all the tweeters with the RD0198-1 available from Polk. It's a better tweeter than the SL3000 anyway.

Ok, I will do that first. I was wondering if is ok to run them with the one blown tweeter and the mix of the two tweeters? The guy I bought them from was using them sometimes. I have had countless speakers, all brands, these just seem a bit more technical than most of the ones I have had in the past I remember the old ad with Matthew Polk standing next to them and drooling. (because of the speakers that is) My daughter lives near Baltimore, wonder if I can get my plates signed. I had heard he did that, maybe for a fee not sure. I have not even connected them yet, I drove 7 hours round trip and was worn out when I got home,(I had worked the night before) Thanks again pal.

Congrats and welcome to CP. When removing the crossovers, unscrew only the 8 perimeter bolts. DO NOT unscrew the middle bolt because doing so will cause the crossover network to fall off and smash into the passive radiator below. Inspect the tweeter harness connection (8 wires are plugs into it) on the crossover board. There are 4 colored wires and 4 white wires. Each colored wire should be on a negative position and the white wires should be on the positive. If they aren't arranged that way, you have the 1.2 model SDA SRS's and they will need to be reversed using a molex tool.
The SL3000 tweeters post (at the tweeter itself) has a wide blade on the negative (white wire connects to it) and a smaller blade on the positive (it will be either red, yellow green or blue) If the blades are the same size, chances are you have the 1.2's.

Fantastic price! You did well. Like others have said, replace the tweeters and upgrade the XO's and you'll have and amazing set of speakers. You have so little invested up front that they will be worth much more than you have invested after the upgrades.

I can replace the Tweeters, I am afraid my eyes are not quite good enough, and my skills in that area would prohibit me from doing any modding on the crossovers. I am pretty easy to please and Polk Audio speakers have not disappointed me so far , I sold my SDA 1Cs today to a fellow member here hope he is happy with his purchase, he seemed to be. I really enjoyed those but I have a house full of stuff, (not literally like some of you here LOL) but plenty. I will most likely keep these for a long time. If I feel like I would like the mods maybe I can find someone that can do the work for me for a fee. Thanks for all the kind words and advice guys.

Crossovers are fairly easy the parts are large
    and the connections are big.
Lots of pictures and info around here.

I still wish you would pull the plates off and take a pic of the crossovers..

You still need to determine if they are 1.2's or 1.2TL's that way you know what tweeters are wrong..

Edit: I sure hope all the drivers are the right ones, and in the right place but with the mix of tweeters I'm feeling doubtful about it.

You need to replace those binding posts, having them wired that way is not a good thing, also let's hope nobody has messed with the wiring or crossovers..

Please get to pulling the drivers, and crossovers, and post what you have that way we can help you bring those to life as they should be..
