The Sl2500 tweeters have different size connectors. 1/8" is + positive, 3/16" is - negative. The Sl2000s have the + & - molded into the back of the plastic trim.
"TL" stands for Tri-Laminate, and refers to the SL3000 tweeter Polk developed in the late 80s as a replacement for the SL2000. All 5th generation SDA-SRSs had them. Their cost effective sibling was the SL2500, and was used in the Model 2 or Revision 2 Monitor and RTA models (except for the RTA-15tl which came with the SL3000). The two tweeters share the same electrical and frequency response characteristics.
It was necessary to modify certain components in the various crossovers to accept the SL3000/2500 tweeters.

Thanks. TL is shorter than typing SL3K. Its strange how the tweeters could be similar response, but different electronically. That is way over my head.

I've read about the polyswitch and it possibly increasing in resistance over time and abuse, Could it be throwing things off or rolling off the highs?

I want to make sure, its safe to mix crossovers using alligator clips without damaging anything?

I'll start a new tread with my findings. I didn't intend to get this far off topic for this thread.
  • I just scored another pair of 5Jrs with the passives tonight and seeing that my second set of RDO tweets are coming in any day, I think I'll try removing my larger Monitor 5's from the system and hook up two pair of Jrs (with a sub)
    That should sound pretty good.

If your 5JR+s have the SL2500s, chances are there's no Polyswitch. Polk eventually eliminated them. Your crossovers should have a 1 ohm resistor, and 13.5uf NP Electrolytic Capacitor. Those are the only two components that could be the culprit.
