I don't think that's necessary. If someone's taking the time to post 100 times, they're not here to pull a scam. Scammers leave as little of a trail as possible.
I totally understand/agree with you on that, I was speaking of the FM in general as well.
You said it yourself, some level of trust would certainly be more firmly established after 6 months, no?
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I have sold stuff via paypay and shipped it to a business out of state.
I have also sold a set of speakers paid for with paypal.
But the 1st was well researched. And the second guy was a Rega
fan big time, and wanted the R3's to complete his system.
Both pretty safe bets. But I firmly ignore most of these requests.
    99% of the time it's a scam.

I sold my 1 year old Emotiva XPA-2 for $ 800 on C list. Buyers came to our office, we had a brief demo, and they paid cash. 800 isn't that much to lose sleep over it.
Having said that, when it comes to sell Mama's 2004 Accord, I won't take cash (counterfeit or not) and no money orders or cashiers checks either.
I demand that we drive to a local bank, the buyers gets a cashiers check while I'm watching the entire transaction, then hand it to me.
Afterward we drive back, they get the title, and the keys, I keep the certified funds.
Even this way it's still a risk if they don't transfer the title and get into an accident, hit and run, bank robbery, you name it. Horror stories abound.
Maybe just trade it in, and lose a $ 1500, but no headaches.

I've conducted all of my CL transactions inside of a local Police station near me. I have experienced several occasions where the buyer tried to change locations at the last minute, but I refused their requests.

    Be careful.

    It's a scam,

Red flag, he won't call you.
    Red flag, movers..

Stay as far away from that transaction as you can, don't even have anymore contact.

Unfortunately, trading it in won't guarantee you safety from failure to transfer the title. We had sold a car to Carmax, and a few months later received a letter with a claim that the car had been involved in an accident. Apparently, Carmax doesn't do anything with the title; they leave that up to whoever they resell it to. Since the person who bought it from Carmax failed to do the title transfer, we were still considered the owner of the car. That said, we kept the paperwork, so we were able to prove that we no longer owned the car. However, it was still a hassle. Hopefully, whoever you trade it in with will take care of title transfer, but I'd suggest you ask first.

I've found some MONSTER DEALS on craigslist out of state. I mean better prices than I've seen on eBay or any other forum etc. Including my current AVR I found out of state. What that seller did was put it on ebay with me on the phone and I bought it right away.

Anyway, I've been burned once on a purchase because I was stupid and the seller was a professional scam artist. I mean he was very good and had very convincing conversation. Stated how he was married to a COO of Car Toys audio chain and they had HT and audio systems all over this huge home they built. The guy claimed that after their divorce he had all this gear he was not using and just wanted to get rid of it. Stated he had three Onkyo TX-NR3010 and six SVS PCi 20-39 subs but sold five of the subs already and was selling the last one. I called about the sub that he had listed for $225 but he brought up the AVRs. Said since I was an enthusiast he would make my day and hook me up and throw one in for $300 for both! Was cool with selling the stuff at a low price to someone that was really into it and could enjoy it. Almost made it seem like he was doing charity work. Even stated how his neighbor was a VP at UPS and how he does not pay for shipping. So my foolish self sent another fool Western Union! Yeah I know...foolish to think I was going to get a new Onkyo TX-NR3010 and a SVS PCI 20-39 for $300! Yes....I know...Oh boy do I now know....

The moral of the story is one has to be very careful and there are ways to make an out of state purchase.
