Well I couldn't resist after listening to Mikey081057 & marvda1 talk about there tube amps, I grabbed one up from ebay and a supplier from Illinois. I got it for my Monitor 10's which I not done upgrading yet, so I hooked this up to my RTiA7's & Monitor 4's I had upgraded the crossovers on and my PSB's.

a great big thank you for mikey & marvin as I been sending many PM's with question's about things, to make sure of all the to do & not to do. As I had never own a pure tube amp like this before and knew almost nothing about biasing them etc..

So far I'm loving the sound and a buddy of mine stop by and he maybe buying one soon as he loved it and it is not even burned in with new IC cables & new Speaker cables and soon to be new crossovers in my 10's! It will probably take me a year to burn everything in and then I maybe able to give my comparison between my Hybrid Vincent preamp & amplifier vs. the MC100b tube integrated amp. BTW the mc100b work really well with the RTiA7's :)

Is this the same Silk (in Thailand) that makes transformers?

If so, I have a pair of their SUTs -- they're quite nice.

I think its from the same factory as the Yaqin, and I think its is the same product under a different name.

as they also sell this one:

this amp is dead silent, the only thing I find it needs is a little bit more bass control. this might be fixed with a power tube upgrade. I have some gold lion reissue kt88 and will see if that fixes the problem

I noticed a little bit of the bass being sort of lose sounding on certain vinyls like Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman, but not until I raised the volume a bit. on some Linda Ronstadt it really sounded pretty good, but I did not crank it either.

but you right about how dead silent it is :) a buddy has some new production Tung-sol 6sn7GTB's that he had me put in, like I could tell any difference this early LOL, but he wanted to hear them :) that's them in the picture with the red bases. now he has some Mullard KT88's I may try as I really dont want to pay for some treasures or sophia's any time soon.

Im anxious to hear what you think of this unit with your 10s. I am in the market for a new source for my 10a's I am on the fence between buying right now and buying right if that makes any sense. I am currently using an Onkyo tx-4500 mk II which I am happy with the sound of but it is showing its age and I am not sure I want to put any money into it. I feel like with what it would cost to repair it I could buy a used Adcom or Parasound but then again I am buying used and it may need more money to keep it operating. I was thinking if I put off the purchase I could save up for one of the Silk or Yaqin units and In the long run I would be happier and have a good base to build upon.

Well it will take some time before I could give a honest report of how they match up together, as I just got my 10's finished and everything is green and need's to burned in for awhile (cables and all).

But it drives them and my A7's, PSB & Monitor 4's like a champ, and so far I'm having a lot of fun with it. it a little loose in the bass sometimes as Marvda1 has stated. you would need a multimeter to set the bias. it runs really hot (space heater)

at the same time I have run my 10's from a peachtree decco65 65wpc SS integrated amp. a Vincent Hybrid 150wpc amp and a older Adcom 5503 200wpc SS amp, and the 10's where great with all of them! but I just wanted to try some tubes and the price was right for me. buying a used adcom or Parasound will not be a problem I wouldn't think as they seem to hold up really well, so you have so many options with your 10's that I'd say fire up a thread and ask away :)

but take you time and think it over 1st and plan it all out! BTW that MC-100b is about 70 lbs. but so was my Adcom 5503!

I pick up this quad bias tester from ebay that shipped from china, it is a lot easy to use then hold a multimeter with one hand and trying to adjust the bias with the other without burning yourself on the tubes LOL.

it work really well and made adjust the bias really simple and a lo less hassle :) think it was $89 for the unit and 2 probes and cost a extra $32 for the other 2 probes, but all in all for it was worth the price
