I just wanted to share the excitement im having over my garage sale find today......I nearly missed them because I went back to the sale to only get some floor jacks for the car, and didn't notice the 2 mint condition polk monitor 10"s with a receiver and cd player against the wall! Guy only wanted $110 for everything and he was the original owner and also had the original stands!!

Another person started showing interest and I jumped on them immediately, didn't want to get into a bidding war with anyone so I said"i'll take it all for $110", while trying not to act too excited..If I was a little more computer savvy I would post some pics but not today, im gonna give them a listen tonite.

The receiver in the deal wasn't anything special, a pioneer "dolby prologic" and the cd player is a 50 cd sony changer..They were pretty irrelevant to the sale far as I was concerned..I was too busy drooling over the polks!
I bought a couple monitor 7's a couple years ago, but always had a soft spot for the monitor 10's because a buddy of mine had a pair back in the 80's and he never could really get a better sounding set of speakers imo, although he tried!

Now I think im gonna move the 7's to the mains of the home theater ive been trying to upgrade, But should I swap the upgraded tweeters I put in the 7's over to the 10's?--they both are from the series with the sl2000's that were improved with the new black silk dome style..I think they are the "silver coil" tweeters currently.

The 10's might actually be better for HT than the 7's and vice versa the 7's might be better for music. Of course, it's all opinion. I'd keep the RDO's in the 7's and use them for music and keep the SL2000's in the 10's and put them in the HT setup.

Nightfall, You are probably right about the 10's being better for home theater and the 7's better for stereo.....i'm a little torn at the moment and the only reason the the7's would fit my application better is a matter of size because i would be putting the theater speakers about 4 feet in the air on a short shelf to each side of a 92" projector screen--the 10's are alot taller and deeper than the 7's now that i can compare them..
I've also contemplated putting a little speaker terminal on the wall so i could switch between them whether im listening to the stereo or home theater cuz the main speakers are virtually positioned right below the theater fronts, but then the 7's wouldn't be doing anything---it would clean up thet clutter of speakers anyway..who knows, i'm just kicking back listening to steely dan on the new 10's at the moment in total awe.

I do that a LOT! I use my 10's for critical music listening, movies, everything.

Congrats !! Finding sweet deals like that are getting harder and harder. I recently scored a pair of 10a's and I am simply loving them. I am looking forward to refreshing them in the not so distant future but for now they are satisfying my Beth Hart binge.
