Is their anything I need to check for while I'm there about these?
I'm not sure if he even has the SDA IC getting them for $300
Let me know what you guys think..
Will my VTL Compacts drive these with and without cable?
If not I still have my DNA 500 I did not sell it to fund my new gear..

Jamie, take a pass. Not one of the better SDA designs with the dimensional tweeter and over priced at $300.00. They use the blade/blade IC, so you'll never be able to use the VTL's with the SDA cable connected.

Not sure, but you might have been reading reviews of the SDA SRS 2, which is a nice speaker. The dimensional tweeter in the SDA 2 imparts a phasey effect that's annoying as hell.

Why did you sell the 3.1TL's and yes, you should be kicking yourself.

    Here's the link to reviews..http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/polk-audio/sda-2/prd_121047_1594crx.aspx

I sold the 3.1's because I was on this Kick of upgrading and needed the funds for other purchases..Check SIG
Funny this was I used the DNA 500 to audition them for the buyer, which I hadn't done myself yet, and when I played something I knew right away it sounded Great and so did the buyer, so he saw the look on my face and quickly put the $$ in my hand, lol

I only read the first page.....for sure the first review is talking about the SDA2's while the last one on the first page is talking about the 2B's. Who knows which model that others are talking about.

It gets rid of the phasey effect, but that leaves the stereo tweeter off center, which may or may not bother someone.

The SDA2 would be a huge disappointment compared to the SDA SRS 3.1TL.

I rebuilt a pair of 2s, full upgrades, new RDO-194s, and installed a dummy tweeter in place of the original dimensional tweeter.
The SQ was amazing, and gave my 2ATLs a run for the money. $300.00 is a lot for that generation however. If you already own a pair of 2s, or can get a pair dirt cheap, they may be worth it when fully upgraded. That being said, the 2B would be the preferred model.

You never will, once you start upgrading the old stuff, you either keep em and love em, or get you but $$ kicked when and if you go to sell them. It's a crazy (but interesting) hobby. One thing for sure, you have the best of the best in this upgrade phenomenon that seems to spark up tons of fun!! lol Keep us posted as to which way ya go.

So true. I've already accepted the fact I'll never recoup what I've spent upgrading the my 2As. Same goes for my CRS+s.

When someone wants to buy a pair of SDAs they prefer a pristine pair that have never been touched. Then as soon as they get them they make a list of all the changes they want to make to them. New caps, resistors and all the other popular mods.

When it comes time to sell a pair of modded SDAs, most buyers seem to be reluctant to pay extra for upgraded speakers. Even people who don't know which end of a soldering iron plugs into the wall seem to prefer buying a stock pair of speakers that have never been touched. Why is that?

I think a good analogy would be classic cars. There are some who prefer to "conserve", keep everything original, and only repair or replace parts that are worn or defective. There are some who prefer to rebuild/restore with the same parts that were originally installed, but are NOS, or rebuilt to factory specs. Then there are those who rebuild/restore, and upgrade with newer technology, to improve performance. I fall into the last category.
As for resale, some are ignorant of what's involved in upgrading, some are skeptical of the upgrades that were done (not a bad thing considering what Faustin just went through), and some want everything original, so they can do their own upgrades.

Because however ancient and decrepit the speakers are, if they're still "stock" the buyer is assured that they haven't been screwed-up by some hack who incorrectly installs improper parts into speakers he intends to "flip" for Big Profit.

I'm not convinced that this fear on the part of the buyer is reasonable or well-founded--but I'm pretty sure that the buyer reluctance to pay additional for modded speakers is based on this fear.
