IF you remember making this post tomorrow (Wednesday), let us know what the morphine use was all about. Not many hospital discharges are made after midnight, especially when a patient is under the influence of morphine.

    Do tell....

Not that unusual. just means he had a driver. I've been discharged that late or later more times than I can count, normally under the influence of morphine or dilaudid lol....

I hope all is well, F1nut. And I hope I didn't scare anyone. My fiance drove me to the ER after the pain in my side got so intense that I could barely stand. They did a bunch of tests(again) and didn't find anything. I was getting worried about my appendix but nothing out of the ordinary showed up on a CT scan. They're assuming I have ulcers. I've never heard of ulcer pain being so bad that one couldn't walk *shrugs*. They got my hooked up on an IV and drugged me with morphine and ativan. That was my first trip on both lol. I was as high as kite. I was out of it by second dose of morphine and stayed out of it until I woke up just a couple of hours ago.

    Good luck man.

I know more than I ever wanted to about ulcers, gallbladder issues, etc, so I have and do feel your pain .

That said morphine sleep sure is good, as is dilaudid and IV benadryl.

Have they looked to see if you have a partial bowel obstruction? That indeed could cause pain so bad you cant stand (I know), but would come and do depending on what you ate......

    Just a thought.....

Morphine sucks it might kill whatever is paining me, but then I end up with a sore stomach from trying to puke it all back out of me even when there is nothing left to come out!

I became addicted to morphine after my back surgery in the late 80's
But it wasn't hard to kick since I was still in the hospital.
Favorite pain pill is Talwin. Works really fast for me.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Some funny ones in there, I might add :) Well, some good news, at least when it comes to a possible dignosis. I will have to follow up with my doctor first thing tomorrow but the CT scan did show a couple of things. First is a cyst on my right kidney. They're calling it a "possible" cyst at the moment so it seems like there's a possibility it might be something else. But for now, they're calling it a cyst. I hope that's all it is. The other thing found on the CT scan is a hiatus hernia. I've been having lower chest pains but assumed it was stress and anxiety. This may require surgery.

As ****ty as this sounds, I'm just glad they found something. The sooner they can fix me up, the better. Thanks again, to everyone, for all of the kind words and support.

What's with all the external scans? Isn't this internal? And shouldn't they just SCOPE it? They can put a scope up/into anything these days: stomach, upper intestines, bowels. Ulcers are quite visible! Cysts can be harmless, causing no problem at all depending on kind.

In any case. I agree, a proper diagnosis is in order. And often, in order to get one. One has to get thee to a TOP Medical Teaching University and not futz around with LOCAL medical care and the guys and gals who have those mail order MDs?

It took almost a month for my insurance to approve the ct scan which was pretty f*** ridiculous IMO. Around the time it was approved, the pain felt like it was going away so I dropped the ball there and didn't schedule the scan. But since my doctor had already ordered it over a month ago, they performed it the other night right there at the ER. I'll call my doc first thing in the morning and figure out what the next step is.
