My 91 Toyota pickup (V6) finally died at 325,000 miles, FWIW. I have owned a few American vehicles and they were all insanely unreliable compared to the Toyota's and Honda's I have owned.

    That's just my experience though.

    90 Honda Prelude - 350,000
    91 Honda CRX - 275,000
    91 Toyota Pickup - 325,000
    89 Honda Civic Sedan - 245,000

Current car is a 95 Civic VX, still under 150,000 miles. Last tank of gas was 51mpg.

Same exact experiences for me. Honda preludes/civics/crx's/accords....then moved up to the Lexus line.

Dan doesn't keep cars long enough to worry about long term reliability. Me...I keep them 10-20 years, something about not having that car payment appeals to me. If your leasing.....even less to worry about, but you'll always have a car payment and that kinda sucks in my book.

If Dan digs Nissan, he should stick with them. They make good engines too. He should be able to get a great deal seeing how many he's owned over the years.

Another reason I stopped leasing long ago was here in Illinois you pay sales tax on a leased car. You don't own the car, but you have to cough up the sales tax. Do the math at almost 10% on a 30-40k car. Lets say after your lease is up, you want to buy the car, you have to pay the sales tax...again !! Add the down stroke, taxes and fees and to lease a car will cost you 7k plus your payment for the privilege of driving their car for 10,000 miles a year. At least here in Illinois, it's better to buy/own good quality and keep it longer and give the wallet a rest.

The last car I personally owned was my BMW 328i back in 2001. I traded that car in for a 2005 Pathfinder and they talked me into the lease then. Since that day I have leased a 2008 Pathfinder then the 2011 Murano.
I'll be honest here, I don't like the car payment, no one likes it but I do like not buying brakes, Tires worrying about any failures. I'm always in warranty which is funny as none of my Nissans needed any warranty repair. I haven't had any issues which is why I really like Nissan.
I have looked at all other brands and considered leaving Nissan for a Toyota, Chevy , Ford even Jeep which makes some very cool Trucks.
I also looked at Mazda and Honda but I keep going back to Nissan. I do this every time my lease is getting close to maturity.

So on a side note I drove all 3 vehicles I'm interested in and I gotta admit the Pathfinder is the best out of the bunch by far.

The Frontier is a fun truck to drive, it's very like my old Pathfinder but more bouncy. You can really feel a Solid axle type ride as when you drive it you know your driving a Truck.
It has a key of all things, you have to actually stick a key in it to start it, strange in todays standards of pouch button which I really dig.I did however love the feel of the Transmission. I miss gears. The CVT's are nice but don't give you that Feel. The Frontier was awesome to feel the gears shift and put you back in the seat.
The seats where stiffer then what came in the Pathfinders years ago unless they are the same and I just don't remember them being that uncomfortable. Compared to my Murano , it's not even close.
They come with factory sprayed in bed liners which gives the bed a very nice clean solid look. Much better then the plastic inserts you usually see.

The Rouge was a very comfortable and well equipped little SUV. I drove a fully Loaded SL with Black interior. The seats are incredible as I was completey comfortable and could see myself driving on a long trip with ease.
Power was except able, I was very worried coming from V6 higher horsepower engines to a 170 HP 4cyl. But it goes man, I mean it got very respectable pickup. Merging into traffic was a breeze. I'm not trying to race anyone from light to light so ti was completely fine to me.
They don't lease well, actually the price was very close to the Pathfinder which makes no sense to me as it is thousands of dollars less retail. The Pathfinder has a much better lease program.

So back in the Pathfinder , it's the biggest interior out of the 3 and bigger then the Murano and my older Pathfinder. Very roomy and very comfortable. Everything is laid out very well.
Power is awesome. No shortage here. It feels as good as the Murano which got some get up and go. Again I'm not trying to race anyone so this isn't very important. Gas milage is pretty high on my list as it's crazy what you have to pay at the pump. The more times I can drive by the Stations the better. Not as good as the Rouge here but better then the Murano and I get good milage out of that.
The Cargo area is huge. When you fold all the seats down you got some serious room. The Murano has respectable amount of room but I think I could almost park the Murano in the back of the Pathfinder LOL.
Cup holder? There is absolutely no shortage I mean you can have a drink anywhere in that truck and have a cup holder to put in it. If you like having Coffee, Bottle of water and an Orange juice in the morning , want to carry them all with you to work plus throw in a sports bottle, your completely covered. I mean they go a bit nutty but I like it with the cup holders. My older Pathfinder was like that as well. I loved and missed that.

So what I'm gonna do is get a loaded up SV model in Red with Black interior. It's the combo I feel looks the best. I also liked the Blue with the Camel interior. That was a very nice looking truck. They have a Black on Black which I really like but I know all about the maintenance of the Black paint and I got OCD when it comes to the finish of my vehicle. Any spec paint chip and I loose sleep. I don't like no one to touch my Vehicles or anything else for that matter. I want a force field around my vehicles so even the wind and bugs can't touch it. I keep them in the garage and find myself rubbing a fender with wax when I'm bored or tinkering around in the garage.

Whats kinda funny is when the new Pathfinder came out, I didn't like it at all. Especially owning 2 of the last generations I thought they just made a big Murano. After driving it , my opinion has changed.

So I want to thank everyone for their comments.

As long as your happy Dan with your choice ,cool.

BTW, tires and brakes are just a natural maintenance thing with any car/truck. Whats cheaper, tires and brakes or 6k a year in payments ?

Excellent choice Dan does the SV model come with the hitch? That Pathfinder will look great with a couple of new Specialized Stumpjumper 29ers hooked up to the Thule :) . I lived in Germany 14 years and the Audi plant was right down the road from us the wife's brother worked there he got employee pricing for him and family members, guess what everyone drove over there in our family, not Audi but Nissan Maximas and let me tell you we had no problem keeping up on the autobahn with the rest of the pack so to say my wife has owned Nissans since she was old enough to drive.

So anyways good decision now trade that GT for a new Specialized 29er and you will have the perfect combo. Show us pics once you bring that Pathfinder home.

You make a very valid point but I don't have to put in in the shop to do so.

No the Hitch is an option now. Back in 2008 when I had my Pathfinder SE, it was standard equipment.
Specialized Bikes are very nice, I still like my GT as it serves me very well. But I'm always checking out new bikes.
By the way I'd love to live in Germany

$6000/yr in payments. And if u playa ur cards right, u never have to spend $2000 on brakes, and tires.
If u buy a Chev Silverado for $35,000 for instance, pay $500/month, with a few thousand down, and pay $16,000 of the truck in 3 yrs, it's still worth $25,000 or so. That's a smart way to buy, and not maintain, a nice vehicle! If u can afford the upfront cost.just my .02 worth;)
