Have you heard the Monitor 11 & could you tell me what you though ? This looks like its a peerless tweeter ? My eyes arent good tonight. How would they compare to the 10's ? Or is it just a hair taller cabinet with a larger passive ? Searched 10 pages & didnt stumble on much. Any feedback would be appreciate. Thanks

in advance.

The Monitor 11 (sometimes called RTA11) dates from 1984 or so and came with Peerless tweeters. A fairly rare speaker. They have dedicated left and right cabinets. Behind one of the mid-drivers should be a piece of acoustic foam, which may have fallen to the bottom by now. Regardless, it will be rotted and in need of replacing.

They sound better than the Monitor 10, IMO.

^^^^Thanks i see Left - Right sticker on back of them. Monitor 11 & some numbers. Wondering how those tweeters would sound VS the sl1000's my 10's sounded like i just sent down the road. I had some 5's with peerless & they were quite pleasant to my ears. Thanks Jesse

Isnt the RTA11 the taller version of the RTA8 ? I read up & it seemed to confuse a lot of people out there

Yes, but the Monitor 11 has also been called the RTA11. The newer RTA11 should actually be called the RTA11T or with the SL3000 tweeter, the RTA11TL. People leave off the letter(s), which is the root cause of the confusion.

Is it a easy enough job to put new foam back up. Do i remove the passive ? When doing this should i replace the ring around the passive ?

The foam should be glued in place slightly under the one mid-driver. Glue to the center divider and the outer cabinet wall.

Take a look inside, if the foam is at the bottom, you'll have to remove the PR to get at it.

    No.

The L&R thing has nothing to do with SDA's.

    No.
it sounds as if your stating pull a driver & inspect first & if so-pull the P.R.

ok i understand that. I was just wondering about the history of this directional (L&R) speaker placement if they did that first--then came up with the IDEA of the SDA theory ? i have no idea what im thinking

    Something I posted a while back, http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?116325-Heads-up-for-Monitor-11-owners&highlight=Monitor

No, the L&R has to do with the foam under the one driver. It affects the frequency range, so in order to have proper imaging you have to have dedicated L&R cabinets.

Ok. Very important with this speaker.... Any idea what size fuse this needs in back. Owner states they work well & it stated something about replacing the fuse ?? So i know it has fuses in them. But id like to make sure they are correct & wont damage the tweeters or drivers. Thanks for all the very helpful tips

I meant to say SL1000. I think I've seen 2-3 pairs locally and all had the SL1000.
when i bought my 10's i thought the sl1000 were AWESOME. It didnt take long to hate them & they were ok condition but the 7's smoked them

interesting. Since then - is there other foams available by chance. Wouldnt surprise me if they will need it also. Wonder if some have tried to re-attatched it - if it wasnt rotted. I know where im not into the big bass thing this would need to be right
