Bench pressing turntables or doing the old-fashioned 12-ounce curls, whatever, you gotta pace yourself.

I saw the Dr. today and yes I ruptured one of the 2 tendons but this can heal without surgery. Scar tissue will form over the damaged area in time. But my bicep will always look different than the other one. (Yep it's funny looking.) He's more concerned there's a problem somewhere else. My rotator cuff my have been the root cause. So next Wednesday I have an MRI and then my follow up visit on July 7th. I'll know more then.

OK I've had the MRI and I've seen the Dr. and I'm not going to need surgery. My rotator cuff is not to torn but is irritated.
I start physical therapy next Tues.

I do have an issue with the ER doctor who told me that surgery was my only option. He was correct in that I ruptured the
tendon but was way off base as to what was needed for recovery. He should left that end to the orthopedics to decide.

Sounds like pretty good news all in all.
Good choice on Dr. Powers. I went w/ Dr. Evil and he wanted ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

Glad to hear you've healed enough to go bak to work.
    Cheers

  • See if you can find a practitioner of A.R.T. or Active Release Technique in your area. (Leahy certified, if possible) It's a therapy of putting the affected joint, limb or whatever under tension and moving it beyond the injured range of motion in small increments. Helps to break up adhesions in the tissue and restore joint mobility. "Might" help. It's painful, though. I had developed a frozen shoulder a couple of years ago. I mistakenly treated it as a rotator cuff issue and then as an irritated biceps tendon, all without significant relief. After just two 30 minute painful sessions...I had nearly 95 percent strength and mobility restored. Total cost was $80 dollars. I had wasted almost two years of effort in contrast to the two week period in which I had the two therapy sessions. Left me with tears in my eyes each time...but it was effective.
And no...I don't receive any compensation for the endorsement.

  • Good luck and dont try to rush rebuilding. Those take some time to heal.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
