How would my Polks look if I refinished them in this veneer?

I am wanting to replace the vinyl on my Monitor 5A's. I know I want to go with real wood veneer but I would like it to look closer to my stereo cabinet. The cabinet was built by my grandfather in 1961 so refinishing it is out of the question. Will the speakers look weird with this light of a finish?

I think the veneer on the cabinet is either quilted birch or maple.

    They'll look great. Faustin just did a pair in oak, and nspindle did his crs+s with natural maple

    I did my monitor 5's in oak and then stained them in golden oak....

    I have to make sure to get enough for not only the speakers but the PL518 turntable and receiver. Yeah I am a little OCD.

    I did mine in red oak, stained with a colonial maple, and really couldn't be happier.

    Actually Dave, they were my 4's that I gave to my daughter's boyfriend. Did them in cherry. Working on the 12's as we speak. Have the cabinets patched up and ready to start applying veneer hopefully in the next day or two. Will be posting pics on the 12's soon.
