Too bad the likes of Sony's LCOS and Panasonic Plasma's HDTVs die with attempts like curved TVs live on.
These 2 TVs are the best made to date, IMO.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

You're not alone. Curved TVs are not popular and will disappear from the market before too long. Unfortunately, they may also be the fall for OLED.
The stupid manufacturers tried to showcase OLED (which by all accounts should be the next great thing in image quality) on large curved screens instead of thin wall mountable screens. Rumors are that Panasonic and Samsung are already pulling back on OLED development. A shame. At least LG is still pushing forward with it.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
4K... there's another useless straw.
Must agree on the graph confusion factor - I don't believe I have seen anything like it *smile* -
I sell them for a living, and I must say that when I saw the first one, I thought it was a joke. In th past week, my store alone has sold 5 UN78HU9000's @8k a pop.
These TV's are impressive to say the least. I know... no 4k content right? There is more and more coming out all the time, and most films made in the past 50 years can by made 4k without any more work than doing the transfer properly, so more content will come. The upscaling capabilities of the 4k is superior to that of the first 1080 sets. This is not going away.
The curve does a few things better than the flats, in that they reduce glare, better for off-axis viewing, and in the larger sizes, are more immersive than other TV's.
I lov them, and the 78 will hang on my tv wall when I get the room done. The Gear... it does very well... the have a "clear-motion" rate of 1440, which basically means that the processing capabilities are fantastic. Our rep told us that(and LG verified this) that there are no native 240 panels. All are either 60 or 120 hertz, with processors picking up the slack. the only thing above those were the plasmas @600 native.

Running with cnh's idea, TV companies should be FORCED to make plasma TV's only because LCD sucks from any angle.Political Correctness'.........defined

And that is why almost nobody makes LCD anymore. LED's have taken over, and OLED will be better still, if they can get the bugs out and the costs down. The Gear... Yeah, an LED TV *is* an LCD, the only difference is the method of backlighting.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I looked at a few "LED" tv s a couple of years ago and came to this same conclusion that these TV's weren't true LED sets. Wouldn't it cost a lot of money to actually have true LED screens? I decided to wait another 4 or 5 years and see what tv technology is worth buying into.

I can't speak for all of you that are at or close to sea level but I live at 8,000 feet above sea level so Plasma is not a good choice for me. This really only leaves me the option of LCD/LED until OLED comes down to a price that can be afforded by a cook.
Max elevations (in 2013) that these companies rated their Plasmas at
LG: 2,900 meters/approx. 9,500 feet
Samsung: 2,100m/~6,900ft
Panasonic: 2,200m/~7,200ft (VT, GT, ST, UT, U series), 2,600m/8,500ft (XT and X series)

As far as off-axis viewing is concerned, wouldn't this only apply to one side? If you sit on the right, then wouldn't you lose detail on the right side of the screen?
If I need better off-axis viewing of my "flat" panny plasma.....I just give it a slight push on one side and voila'...it pivots. -
My UN55F9000 Samsung is a treat, and yes..I own one their top of the line Plasma sets too. Unless you own one and have time to spend with it, all I can say is Get ya some!! lol"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!
