What's amazing is these guys have been around for a few years now and I didn't know anything about them until my best friend told me about them.

Basically how this got started is I have been playing my guitars a lot more lately. I'm not in a band anymore, nor do I make a ton of time to play but recently the Guitar bug i'll call it bit the **** out of me and I can't stop obsessing over it.
I just re tubed my amp (Krank Revolution 1 2 x 12 combo) with brand new Sovtech 5881 / 6L6 WGC power amp tubes and Electro Harmonic 12AX7 pre amp tubes. It's a 100 watt head and it's elfin badass. It has the cleans of a Fender Twin and the drive of a Peavy 5150 which for me is a killer combo.

My best friend has been in bands for decades including 3 of mine. He was just asked by a Bass player to create a newer metal style band like Pop Evil. He told me about this adventure and asked if I listen to them. I told him I never heard of them and he said I would love them. So he pulled up one of their songs " Dance with the Devil" on Spotify and I was hooked. I actually went home and learned it. It's a pretty easy song to learn with a few quirky ways of doing things. I'm a old 80's metal Style guitarist ( I'm a combination of George Lynch, James Hattfield and Jimi Hendrick) but I have adapted my style more to the newer style like Shadows Fall and now Pop evil.
This very band also inspired me to re consider my stand on not playing in another band. I'm a bit off the path to be good enough to play in a band as I don't practice no where near enough but I'm changing that right now. I'm also planing on going back to guitar lessons to get all polished up, fix a few things and further my knowledge of music theory which by the way is like rocket science , to me anyway as I always felt music theory was very hard. Playing the guitar is pretty natural for me as I can pick things up pretty quickly but when it comes to reading music and remembering all those keys and the notes with in them. Circle of 5th blah blah blah I go blank after a while. I just enjoy rocking out by myself but Pop Evil just hit a chord inside me and now I'm on a mission.

Whats even cooler is the fact that my Best friends Old guitar player from his last band Angry VicK is also a teacher. He is also a Grad of MIT of Music who graduated with my last Guitar Teacher. He is one amazing guitarist and far better then I ever was. He knows theory like my old guitar teacher did and I thought he was a Idiot Savant. One thing I really like about this dude is he can listen to a song he never heard before and with in minute be able to play the entire sound and damn near nail the guitar lead the first try. Thats crazy as most of the time it takes me hours if not weeks to learn songs especially if I never even heard it before.

George Lynch is my favorite guitarist of all time. This is musically awesome but I don't like the singer. he should sing backups and they should have hired a real singer. Someone with a much better front man voice. Dude isn't bad , to me just seems like a back up singer not a front man.

I listen to about 7 songs from the onyx LP on Spotify while surfing, I finally realized I was liking their sound so I bought the "Onyx" CD.
