I need help troubleshooting...I had a stereo prfessionally installed-Pioneer(Premier) DHP-650 no problems..I then decided to replace the dash speakers myself(BIG MISTAKE)the dash speakers are 3'5inch..I have sound with the past off(direct from battery) have sound before cranking over engine lose sound once engine is turned over...Sometimes I do have sound right at first when engine is cranked but lose it within 5 min. I also went as far as having speakers professionally installed and still have same problem.. I have traced all the wires to make sure everything is connected properly. So I am at no ends with this..Also the stereo place did try another brand new stereo like mine and same problem and another speaker direct and same problem..Please any help would be appreciated.. The vehicle is 1985 Chevy 1/2ton Silverado..Thanks Chevygirl49094

make sure you have a good, clean ground connection from your stereo.

Just a guess but maybe it has something to do with the ignition switch. Usually the stereo will turn off when the key is in RUN and turn back when in the ON position. Since it is not turning back on maybe this is the problem. Could also be a corroded or loose ground wire as gregit mentioned. Also try posting in the car audio forum, maybe some one there has had a similar problem.Graham

Thanks to both of your replies..I will try again with the ground wire...As for the ignition I am getting sound in until I turn the engine over and the stereo does come on just dont hear sound unless all the way up and barely can you hear sound then....Any other ideas anyone let me know...The ground is brand new..I will try to sand the area for it down some more..Again thanks to both replies...Chevygirl49094

Yeah, if you haven't checked out the car audio forum, I'd post there as well. You may find some people in both places, and a bunch of people on here may be able to help, but those guys over there can probably help out as well.
