Hope the dog is euthanized and the neighbor fined or jailed.

My cats would just be lying there watching me get eaten.

    Might not even wake up.

In Arizona that dog would have been euthanized on the spot, .45 style.

WOW! did the Cat really protect the kid or did it just chase away the dog from its territory?

Because of the timing I would say it was more protecting the kid but who knows.

Someone just happened to be filming the boy and the dog? Looks staged to me.

Well that was the worst song I've ever heard. I can't think of any song that sucked as bad as that.

    Cheers

Any Dog that attacks anyone for no reason should be put done and the owner fined heavy or jailed. The law needs to step up big time when these types of things happen.

    Agreed.

It is an amazing yet sad video, amazing on the cats part, sad on the kids part..

Staged? It's pretty easy to tell its security cameras.

I watched feed on the news last night and couldn't believe a cat protecting a family member....normally a dog can be protective, but I have never known a cat to be anything other than self serving.

My sister brought her dog to my home about 3 years ago and my cat came down and sat on the stairs and hissed at the dog. Dog
ran. Wonder what would have happened if the dog tried to go up the stairs? Cat sat on the stairs for about 10 minutes and just
    hissed and growled.

Cats are just as territorial as dogs are. If the dog had tried it would have gotten itself severely scratched. One lone cat against one lone dog the dog generally will run, they just can't match the claws.

well then guess my dog's a freak. She kills cats period 2-3 at a time if need be. Told my neighbor the she had better keep her cats in her yard or I'll be knocking on the door. I've returned 3 carcases THIS year 7 last year....Possums, 45lbs coons, squirrels and skunks she takes no prisoners. She weighs 45lbs.

That's normal in any case I've ever seen. I think the dog probably just got freaked out more than anything. I'm sure it would have no problems with a cat mano y mano...or perro y gato.

According to news, the dog will be euthanized. Cat may have been acting territorial. But if you notice on the video, after he initially attacks the dog, he looks back to make sure the child is ok, before proceeding to run the dog off even further. That kid suffered severe punctures and lacerations. It wasn't staged and it's not a joke. It was a neighborhood dog that was outside a fence or off a leash, not some feral animal.

I used to have a cat that whenever a big dog came up our hill it would go running towards the dog, jump up on its back and ride it all the way back down the hill, pretty impressive. And painful!

They interviewed the parents. And the cat has loved and stayed near the baby since the day it came home from the hospital. I never knew cats to be that aggressive? Peace. D

I had a huge 35 lbs. Norwegian Forest cat named Sampson when I lived in Chicago. One day a lady was walking her pit bull without a leach (which is illegal in Chicago). The dog saw Sampson sitting in the window of my garden unit apartment and just as I opened the door to walk out, the pitbull ran past me and lunged at my cat. Sampson hit him three times in rapid succession. The dog was so startled, it peed on the floor and ran back out of the door. When it's owner would take it to the dog park across the streets, people would tease them saying "isn't that the pit bull that got beat up by a cat." They stopped bringing their dog after a few months.

Oh, attached is a pic of Sampson (it's the only way that I could think of to show how big he was).
