Wanted one of these for awhile but didn't want pay $539 for one so I stuck with a Monster reference 2500 waiting for a deal on the Panamax.

Apparently these are going end of life, and I found one NIB for $329.

This unit has the right combination of switched and un-switched outlets (11 total) Phone, modem, cable sat coax filters and a usb charge port.

Very well designed and will protect and or power down your devices when when power gets squirrely.

The front panel meters are handy and nice, and canned be dimmed/turned off...

Sweet deal... If you are looking for one of these the features/protection are now available at a nice price point.

That's a good price. I bought a demo a year ago for around that price.

I have a couple of Panamax units, forgot the numbers, before I replaced them with Shunyata gear. I know for a fact they work with detecting low voltage, and shutoff if the voltage gets below a certain level. However, one of the units has an amp meter on it, and I plugged my two Pass amps into to it to see how much current they drew at idle (8 amps on the meters). The problem is they hum a little bit with that much current going through them, and this was using the high current ports.

congrats man, that's a great deal. I just got some Panamax stuff on similar deal, too, but mine is refurbed on trade-in on older failed P-max equip. can't really speak to any improvement of audio or video quality, but it sure looks cool, and I at least feel better protected :)

I also have a Monster reference 2500 and I'm looking to upgrade. The price is pretty attractive too. Did you notice any performance increase with the Panamax?

My deal was that the Monster 2500 just didn't have enough sockets... I moved the monster 2500 to my 2 channel rig...I really don't notice any video or sonic improvements and didn't/couldn't do any side by side comparison.. it sure is a nice looking unit that I as sure is protecting my HT gear I now have my Directv and my ethernet being protected too..

My experience is you need to move up the food chain before you get noticeable audio and video improvements. However, then you lose things like under voltage protection. I went from Panamax to Shunyata in both my two channel and HT. The audio, and video, improvement was more than obvious. However, the Shunyata gear only has a breaker for over current protection. They specialize in removing noise from the AC line, and recommend getting a whole house surge protector if you worry about that.

Did you read its numeric specifications? It is electrically equivalent to a $20 power strip with a fancy front display also provided by a Kil-A-Watt for $29.

The term 'conditioner' has no technical significance. But it works on consumers who make decisions on feelings; not facts. Some conditioners actually claim some 'near zero' filtering. This one does not.

BTW, Monster has a long history of identifying scams. Then selling an equivalent product for even higher profits. If Monster is selling an equivalent product, then suspect all are scams.

Monster once sold speaker wire with ends marked for the amp and speakers. Reverse that wire (connect speaker end to the amp) and sound would be subverted - so said Monster. Then many consumers even claimed they could hear a difference. Monster sold this $7 speaker wire for $70. Because so many consumers just know from feelings and bogus (but expensive sounding) phrases. And routinely ignore the only place where Monster, et al cannot lie. The numbers.

I have the 5300-EX on my HT and a older 500 DBS on my 2ch setup. What I have notice on the 5300 is the use of the high current outlets, these are used for my AVR and SUB. I can tell a noticable improvement in both units in reserve power in the AVR and tighter bass in the sub due to a solid current feeding each of them. The 500 DBS made a big improvement in depth of sound and taking out some electrical feed back (pops) from appilances in the kitchen as both are on the same circuit in the house. I had power strips on both prior to switching.

the 5400 is where Panamax actually gets really good, just look over the spec's of the 2 and you might want to save up a few more pennies.
