How's your mono box Bill. Best to check it out !!!
More sweet vinyl, autographed by the man himself. First time on a turntable.
Rory Gallagher: Fresh Evidence. Backstage passes, Swilling with Rory and the band. A night I will never forget. Met the band in London at a friends pub and didn't know who they were until we went to a record store and I grabbed this album. Steve tells me you've been drinking with the band the last 3 days. Hooked up with them all in Cleveland for Rory's last tour.

1st off Chumlie welcome back to the fold. :D
I've played 2 so far out of the mono box. I listened to Revolver this AM but didn't get a chance to post it. (I was going music shopping at PREX)LOL. I'm truly in love with with what I've heard so far. Last week I ordered a true mono cart before realizing it won't work on modern mono records which are cut at the same 45 degree cut as stereo LP's. But no worries I have many pre 1968 mono records that it will work with. It's an Audio Technica AT-MONO3/LP and it's a medium output MC cart. I have a mint Technics SL-1300mk2 that I'll use with the mono cart. I ordered it from Japan at $129 including free shipping. The cheapest I found in the good old USA was $190. We will see how this works out. I have an original Parlaphone Revolver mono that'll be my 1st play with the new cart ;)

BTW: The Steve Winwood CD is pretty darn good

In all honesty Chumlie none was taken. If you sent me a PM I still can't find it but as you all know when it has anything to do with a computer. I'm as dumb as a bag of hammers LOL

I read it and will reply later. The wife is dragging me out for a drink and I'm kicking and screaming. I want to stay and have a quiet listening session.

I'm spinning this with Chumlie in mind now that he's rediscovering is love for the vinyl LP.

Rory Gallagher's ''Taste'' on a mint UK pressing.

I know from this thread that Chumlie loves Rory's music. :D

To tell you the truth, I think I got Vincebus Eruptum when it came out and I didn't even know there was a mono, much less a 180 gram mono.

I was just checking and apparently Vincebus Eruptum was recorded "mono" and then issued as a "stereophonic" album, but maybe just in name. There was a mono reissue of the original mono master tapes in the early 90's. I'm going to have to pull my original out and have a listen. I don't remember ever thinking the original sounded mono. Outsideinside is apparently real stereo. When that album came out, I recall thinking it was not as dynamic as Vincebus, but had some good stuff regardless. Now I'm reading where there are legions out there who swear by Outsideinside, so I'll have to pull that one out for a revisit also. Summertime Blues was a real strong hit that year it came out and one of the great unique covers of all time.

I went to my 1st call and the guy gave me 3 tubs of LP's. I'll go pick them up after work today. A quick run through and I found a Zombies and a Savoy Brown album. I'll go through them this weekend and report back.
