I finally found a Bloodrock LP that was beat to crap.
This one is beat half away to hell.
Bloodrock 2 side two.

Why... it's my speaker, silly! ;-)
It is an Altec 604E Duplex coaxial driver installed in a variation of the classic Altec 620A vented (bass reflex) cabinets designed by a fellow at AK called "Billfort" - http://www.wardsweb.org/Billfort/
Cabinets were built by my friend, woodworker/contractor Mike Berg in Hudson, MA.
Crossovers are Doug Sax's Mastering Labs crossovers.
Note that Billfort's Duplexes are a little prettier than mine ;-) He also has somewhat more modern Duplex drivers which are a little larger in OD than mine, too...
Altec Duplexes were the industry standard for broadcast and studio monitoring for a long time... the story of how they lost that mantle is interesting in itself (and readily found on teh webs). Those four lads from Liverpool used to hear themselves on Duplexes a lot at Abbey Road...
(actually the monitors at Abbey Road were 605A Duplexes in 612C cabinets... but the 604 family and the 620 enclosures are generally regarded as "better"... at least nowadays) -
um, Very cool!
I'm a fan of Altecs though I don't own any of that vintage.
I also like Bozacs and Polks too!

Hey Red: I just finished Graham Nash's new book Wild Tales, a good and fast read. Huge CSN + CSNY fan. Used to play Deja Vu every day before school. Also a giant Graham Nash fan. First solo album, Wild Tales and Earth & Sky among faves.

I've been meaning to get that. Thanks for the tip. I listened to AM radio w/ me mum before school.

Y'know... I never really appreciated this guy when he - and I - were far younger.
Some of his classic stuff really is (classic, that is).

Took a long time for Dylan to click w/ me but when he did, I wanted all his stuff.
I wouldn't have guessed it, but the SACD of Slow Train Coming is really good.

Listened to a little bit more of Mr. Zimmerman before going back to VPR ;-)Now Ophelia, shes neath the window
For her I feel so afraid
On her twenty-second birthday
She already is an old maid
To her, death is quite romantic
She wears an iron vest
Her professions her religion
Her sin is her lifelessness
And though her eyes are fixed upon
Noahs great rainbow
She spends her time peeking
Into Desolation Row

Bob did give us some good stuff. Too bad he was so impressionable and unstable as a personality and easily swayed as he aged? Look at his history in the last couple of decades: thought, religion, women...
I remember the story about when Bob was riding with the Fab Four and he so "desperately" wanted to get Lennon's attention/approval even though he'd already done a lot of classic stuff.
I guess what I'm saying is I don't respect the guy, but I do like some of the music. The problem? Bob also produced a HUGE number of "stinkers", HUGE!

"The problem? Bob also produced a HUGE number of "stinkers", HUGE!"
In a RS interview he admitted he tried to destroy his rep w/ some LPs like
"Self Portrait." I don't have it now but there is some good stuff even on that.

But you are right. Bad Bob is really Bad. He should have hung it up some time ago. -

Power of suggestion? The one I listened to was an original (mono) "2-eye" ;-)
EDIT: Gotta love that Nikon SP rangefinder 35 mm camera on the cover... my son's got one (well, a Nikon S2); he loves it, too...

No, no. I got to thinking about when I started to actually like Dylan.
This was the first, followed by his first and second? Freewheelin'
Seemed like a good time to dig it out!

Cat Stevens! Nice choice.
I took my daughter to her voice lessons tonight. Drop her off and usually swing by the Goodwill to peruse the music. Mostly CDs today.
