Just walked in the door from a Hot Tuna live gig. Jack and Jorma are amazing musicians. Now, I have to go dig in the vinyl vault for a late night reprise.

Very respectable covers of some blues and folk/blues classics. Bluegrass, country and rock flavorings intertwined for a highly listenable session.

Shawn Mullins - The First Ten Years

I had never payed any attention to Shawn Mullins until getting an earful of it at TPGII a year&1/2 ago. I immediately picked up the "Soul's Core" CD, and found that I liked his style and the quality of the recording. This compilation gives a pretty good sampling of his earlier works that are hard to find otherwise, as well as a couple of newer, soundtrack recordings: Covers of Bowie's "Changes" and George Harrison's "What Is Life". Not as polished as "Soul's Core", but there's some good stuff here. The recordings sound "real", not over-produced. One of my favorites is "Canyons and Caverns". He mentions in the liner notes that he wanted it to sound like he's in your living room.

Regina Carter- "Paganini: after a dream" Strange, in a good way, cd continues to grow on me. The un-orchestrated tracks are the best and the keyboardist is as much the attraction as Regina on this one.

At this precise moment I am listening to the "house band" from the Plaza del Toros, Mexico's largest bullfighting arena. These guys are easily the best bullfight band I have ever heard.

Don't laugh, instead, dare to be different.

Actually the latest version of their Greatest Hits is a 2-cd collection with the 2nd cd being all the acoustic versions. It's available as a single or dbl cd. The single cd version obviously doesn't have the acoustic tracks
