I became familiar with audio engineer Cookie Morenco while reading the credits on some Windham Hill Records jackets. She went on to found Blue Coast Records. Her first release is called the Blue Coast Collection and it lives up to the mission statement "exceptional acoustic recordings."

While you won’t find real famous folks on it, they are talented musicians with good songs. Very easy listening with outstanding sound quality. I'll stay tuned for future releases.

Available in standard or hi-resolution downloads (DSD, 96kHz) or via mail with SACD. The hi-res downloads are kind of pricey (96kHz @ $40, DSD @ $50). Amazon has the Gold CD/SACD for $27/$30. The BCR site has some free downloads and samplers. Amazon has samplers on the SACD page.

Great link Scomp.I downloaded a free flac file of Alex DeGrassi playing a 39 string guitar. It sounds quite good ,I will certainly be looking further into their catalog. I have a few Windham Hill releases from the 90's that were very well done so Cookie may have been involved with those.

Thanks! She was involved in 100's of projects there, the most famous being Winter Solstice 2. It was or remains the highest selling compilation in Windham Hill's catalogue. She is serious about her gear too.

^ Good, post Peter Green compilation...

Me? The Grass Roots - All Time Greatest Hits

Surprisingly good... 'Midnight Confessions" is the one hit that I immediately associate with them, but there are more legit here than either I remembered them having, or did not connect with them, e.g., "Let's Live for Today", "Where Were You When I Needed You", and “Temptation Eyes”.

Nothing too heavy here… nice remastering with borderline stunning SQ on a couple tracks (most notably "Let's Live for Today").

Roommate had that in college... good stuff, but I was more of a Hellbound Train fan...

Still in the greatest hits vein....

    h03803y72ox.jpg

Shows that all best-ofs are not created equal...
Its 10-tracks total only 25 minutes (holy AM radio Batman!!!)...
Sonics are uneven as hell; ranging from barely listenable to VVG...
Material runs from classic to "eh"...

Gotta be a better one out there...
