Where to start with this one. 1976 Canadian band Rough Trade with lead singer Carol Pope had some radio success probably best known for their High School Confidential song.
Anyway this is the world's first rock direct to disc recording. The article below explains but in a nut shell they skip the tape stage and the music is sent directly to the cutting lathe that the engineer must operate in real time eliminating most compression. Downside is the musicians must perform each full side in one take without mistakes. Crazy stuff! Anyway I have copy 10797 of 30000 and the sound is dynamic, alive, and separation between instruments is something to be hold.
