Jethro Tull - Aqualung [Remaster w/extra tracks]
    1998 CD Chrysalis 5401

    51DVKY5QG1L._SL500_AA240_.jpg

This is a very good sounding CD that still holds up well musically 39 years later IMO. This version includes 3 tracks from prior albums a couple of out-takes and a radio interview with Ian Anderson. It is basically a remaster of the 25th Anniversary Special Edition remaster from 1996. It is sonically much better than the original CD and nearly on par with the LP.

Bought an acoustic cd of them at a thrift store for $1.00. Never really listened to them before. They're not to bad though. I do recognize a couple of their songs that I have heard on the radio. Never knew who they were until now.

I took time off from work this week just to chill after ACL fest. Consequently I have been doing much listening. This morning I grabbed:

The Fixx - Reach the Beach

This is a great disc. Pretty good A to D transfer too, considering it's age. This is a first-run CD.

Respighi- Pine of Rome, via Telarc

I have both the Living stereo version and the Telarc version and the Telarc is light years away better. I love this piece because of the waves of low frequency bass. Very powerfu and moving. Brings tears to my eyes at time.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Sky Is Crying
    1991 Epic EK-47390

    51n8Kpho6JL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

The first "compilation" album released after his death. But it really isn't a "greatest hits" album...but 10 previously unreleased tracks spanning his career. Afterward came the plethera of greatest hits albums...but none compare with this one. There could be conversation that this may be equal to "In Step"...an album many consider to be the best he ever produced. I would not argue. "The Sky is Crying", this version of "Little Wing", "May I Have A Talk With You" and "Life By The Drop" are exceptional. A must have SRV album!
