Brewer and Shipley - Rural Space
    1972, Kama Sutra 0598, LP

Mike and Tom are just as entertaining today as they were in the early 70's, when they served as a welcome relief from the heavier folk/rock of the 60's.

This is the harder to find promo cover (thanks George). The production cover featured an aerial photo of farm fields versus the drawing.

    Duran Duran - Rio

    41EYPW0Q4EL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

Very nice LP. They are not quite the "glam band" many would like to make them out to be. The "hits" are good but some of the other stuff is very good like "Hold Back the Rain" and "the Chauffeur".

CD: The cars - greatest hits

today I saw a young girl (18-20) at the supermarket with one of those big purses about the size of the old paper grocery bags with a big pic of Blondie on the side of it. Pretty cool girl imo :)

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Emerson, Lake & Palmer

    41bieZxE8qL._SL500_AA240_.jpg
    1971 Atlantic SD 12190

I played my copy of this LP several months ago and realized it was just plain worn out...almost unlistenable. Thanks to the GG vinyl sale, I now have a near perfect copy.

As the first track of side one begins...the power of Carl Palmer's drumming and Keith Emerson's keyboard on "The Barbarian" engulfs you. The side ends with the frantic "Knife~Edge", with the 14 minute "Take A Pebble" wedged in between.

Side 2 - "Lucky Man" - nuff said! (although "The Three Fates" and "Tank" are worth mentioning as well)

No wonder I wore the grooves off of my original LP. GREAT STUFF!

    Kansas - Leftoverture

    61jQRkv2lIL._SL500_AA240_.jpg
    1976 Kirshner PZ 34224 LP

A really nice album with "Carry On Wayward Son" as the "hit single". The entire album is good. The more I listen to my old stuff...the more I appreciate it and the more I wonder where the innovation in rock is today. I try to listen to the new rock...but I rarely go WOW when I hear any of it. I still think WOW when I listen to music like Leftoverture.

Most people don't really like innovation when it comes to music, they like to listen to the same sounding stuff over and over.

Heres some innovation, but you probably won't like it, raps over 12 bar blues...

tons of innovation out there, you just can't expect it to sound like the 70's
