Ukraine has been part of Russia since before the Cossacks went to war with Poland in the 1700's...we have no dog in that fight...
-
Ladies and Gents -
From the folks who brought you Vietnam, Afghanistan and, everyone's favorite - Iraq - now comes...
Ukraine!
If you enjoyed seeing the maimed and wounded from the last three, liked not really achieving much of anything at all while prematurely gloating about the "Mission Accomplished," you'll LOVE our new production!
Coming soon to a war theater near you.

It's all a distraction to keep the American public unaware that Polk Audio was bought out by BOSE inc. last week...

It's provocation upon provocation down there. Pro-western reporters vs pro-Russian reporters. American-backed ultra-national "revolutionists" vs Russian-backed eastern Ukrainians/Russians. I wouldn't believe a word from any newspaper regarding what's going on there.
How do I know? I am from Donetsk, and have tons of family there... I just really wish there will be no civil war.
Oh yeah, I know it will piss off quite a few people here, but why was CIA director secretly flying and talking to those 'revolutionists' in in Kiev? It's quite obvious that the whole original "Maidan" unrest was started by Americans, so that Kiev wouldn't continue growing their tight ties with Russia. And before someone starts, yes, president who was in power is a real criminal and shouldn't have been there to begin with.Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

Of all the posts in this thread...this is the one that disturbed me the most. I read it and went...

Thank you for your kind words.
Most people back home just want a normal life - and for them normal life is just being able to live in peace and have money to feed their families. Donetsk region is an industrial region - metal factories and coal mines. Those coal mines have not been safety upgraded for years, probably since USSR fell apart, so miners die every few months - most recent disaster happened just a couple of weeks ago.
I can't talk for everybody, but I would think that people in Donetsk (and Kharkiv and Lugansk) region are normal reasonable people, not extremists. It's not like Crimea where 80% of population is Russian. For Eastern Ukraine, Russian and Ukrainian are the same thing, so I'd think the majority will simply want to stay in Ukraine, but in peace. Previous president was a major criminal, he was in jail for assault prior to becoming president, but he was backed by powerful Donetsk mafia.
I would have nothing against people who took power in Ukraine, even though it was an armed coup, except for one major thing. If all they wanted was proper equality and fairness, they should have called an election pretty much right away. Instead, they started making major changes to Ukrainian constitution. I am not sure how exactly these changes are affecting Eastern Ukraine, but it is one of the major things why Donetsk region wants autonomy (not even independence).Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

True....what doesn't have an element of any one of those 3 in it these days ? Personally, I'm with ya, rather be simply listening to music and worrying about fishing and classic cars. I think there was once a time when you could ignore a lot of this and go about your day, sadly though, it finds you...or starts to effect you in some fashion.
Seems the world in general, even our country alone has been turned on it's ear in a very short period of time. Makes it hard to ignore if you care about anything. To ignore is to condone....no ?
Indeed it is. And that is the root for the problem. It used to be "Not in my back yard!". And at that it was ignored for someone else to figure out. Now it is in everyone's back yard and can not be ignored. At risk of pushing the envelope...I say this, I am and will continue to stock up on those little tiny brass things with pointy ends, canned food, diesel, seed packets, playboy magazines...you get the drift. Our beautiful country is taking a big hit and most notably in the last 15 years or so (the last 2 years have been pure hell)with no sign of surfacing for air. I do not know what is in the minds of some of these folks that get elected but what ever it is they need to reduce the dosage and right friggin now!
Happy Bithday by the way. Take a spin around the county lately? Thougth's of a coast to coast before a guy needs papers to do it might not be a bad ideaToo much **** to list....
