Man this is like Poland/1939, even the pretext for Putin sending in the troops: our nationals are being harassed and denigrated, savaged. We have to go in to protect them.

    And so it begins...

And a point of historical significance, Before the Russians(Soviets at the time) were allies, they were HEAVILY allied with Hitler's Germany and actually helped them round up Jews, and even helped in establishing some of the more notorious death camps.

The Red Army was hell-bent on "liberating" those camps before the western allies could find the connections. The truth is we already knew that and covered it up...

Taken right out of Hitlers play book. Send trouble-makers in, then claim that the majority of the population is in danger, conquer/rinse/repeat.

Predictably, still no coverage on this by the lamestream media.

    Hope not...humanity has enough scars.

Um...we stirred that pot in the Ukraine. We also stirred that pot in Syria, along with the whole middle east. Don't discount our own involvement before casting stones...because that's exactly what they want you to do. Funny how we won't send arms to help the Ukraine defend itself, but we will send arms to terrorist organizations fighting regimes we don't like. Picking and choosing winners and losers on the world stage, just like we do here at home. Except the pawns are real men and women, lives are at risk...and for what exactly ? Ukraine's borders ? That's a U.N. issue, let them sort it out. Wish we were more concerned about our own borders than someone else's 8 thousand miles away.

I think this is what we get by "leading from behind".

We showed weakness to both our enemies and our friends.

I just returned from San Diego last week after watching my 20 year old son Gabriel graduate from Marine boot camp.

I guess I really have "skin in the game" now.

Not good at all, but I really don't see any single or group of countries in any position to do anything about it.

The problem is that a lot of the world got enlightened. The current belief is that people and governments can be reasoned with, and once shown the error in their ways, the will apologize and play nice in the future.

I personally never got enlightened, and still have that outdated belief. Peace through superior firepower.

I have a funny feeling Mr. Putin probably decided not to get enlightened either.

It is bizarre to see our President and Secretary of State lecture Mr. Putin saying that the problem is that he just doesn't know how the world works in this century.

Unfortunately, Mr Putin knows exactly how the world works, and the other two are clueless.

If you ever get mugged, try explaining to the thug that he simply doesn't know how the world works, and that the enlightend (and wonderful) you, do. Offer to explain it to him in detail. See what that gets you.

PFC Smith is home with me for a few days. Goes back to Pendelton next Tuesday for more combat training.

Then he goes to Pensacola for avionics training. They told him he was smart for a Marine. I guess that is a compliment.

I gave him my M4 carbine as a graduation present when we got home. Last night he completely stripped it and cleaned it at the kitchen table (told me it was filthy).

I love the kid and am proud of him.

Add to that... he gets three hots and a cot, and a shower. Better than sleeping in the mud and dirt.

I'm not so sure we shouldn't. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if we were behind it. Don't forget, the guy in the big chair still wants to pressure Israel into peace talks with the Palestinians. What better way to scare them than that letter ? Let them know how hated they are in the world...and only we can protect them. One thing I learned in all my years is nothing is as it seems on the cover.

I agree with you FGTV... I think we have allowed ourselves, BY DESIGN, to get sucked into every European conflict going back to WWI. The question I always have is "why?"...

Yeah, it is real, but the guy with no hair holds all the cards. Europe is highly dependent on Russia for energy. He only needs to turn that faucet slightly before they throw their hands up in the air. Then what ? Let him do as he wishes ?

Remember "Walk softly and carry a big stick" ? That's true for personal protection, and for countries. While we cripple our military and continually shrink it, Russia and China keep building theirs. Sometimes brute force is the only way to solve problems. We see it here at home...and we see it on the world stage. Simple fact of life.

As it sits right now, if Russia and China decided to combine forces, simply take over Europe, they could and nobody with any sizeable stick could stop them. Make no mistake, Putin is testing our resolve while the rest of the world watches. So far, he's making a clown out of us, a paper tiger as they say.

I'll just say Ezekiel Ch. 38 and translate the KJV of the words "chief prince" back to the original Aramaic and then realise how it was later translated into "Rosh", then "Rush", then Russia in the Vulgate. That's all you need to know.
