A preamp from either Vincent, parasound or adcom. Looks like I could get parasound p3 used, a new classic 2100, a Vincent sa31 and just about any adcom used. I don't really need a tuner and really only need a few inputs that's why I listed the Vincent. Don't really need triggers because of a want for power conditioner. Not wanting to go over 700 if possible. The Vincent looks entry level? That's all I'm really going for. Don't need a whiole lot just an improvement over my Onkyo tx8555 receiver. I like the parasounds because of connections and features of course. I grew up listening to adcom.

A power conditioner for either ps audio, furman, apc or Panamax. I'm not wanting to go over 500. I like the ps audio p300 but they're awful expensive, a quintet isn't bad at all but I'm wanting turn switch everything on from the front with it. I want a removable power cord. Furman 15pf is expensive but doable. They have some nice offerings so does Panamax and apc. Ps audio would be nice but too expensive.

A CD player of some sort, is marantz a good choice? Probably can go 3-400.

I'm cleaning out the old and getting some newer. Tell me if I typo anything, we're hungry.

I'm wanting a dedicated CD player, I have four DVD players in my home. I don't need a blu ray player or another movie player. I appreciate that though.

I'm wanting the preamp new, amplifier is a parasound hca 1500a.

I'd like some more opinions, i know more than two people use audio equipment on this forum lol

I have the Vincent SA-31 Pre-amp with the SP-331 Amp and love the sound from them but I have not heard much else so I can not compared it to others. I very happy with this combo and also have it hooked to a Marantz 8005 SACD player and Pro-ject TT.

It does not have a phono output, so I also added a WOO WA3 to the mix. I have seen it listed for $450 somewhere maybe upscale audio, and the do have a silver Sp-331 amp used for $850. but so many other sure love their Parasound equipment that you can't go wrong with them. but for what I paid for my Vincent combo I see I could have picked up a P5 + Halo A23 for much the same price. Both combo's new for $2090 at Audio advisor!

I've read so many good things both Vincent and the parasound 2100 it's hard to decide. I don't need a phono stage as I don't own any albums and don't plan to. I've heard the Vincent sounds warm. The only preamp I've heard is an adcom gfp1, could explain what warm sound means? Since you've got a Vincent combo.

In that price range, the Marantz CD6004 or the newer CD6005.

    I can agree with that.

What about some of their sacd players? Like an 8260, 8001, or 8400? The newer ones are a little much.

I heard some say warm means mellow and not overly bright, and the term sorta fits. I upgrade from a Peachtree decco 65 integrated amp and the sound became cleaner, has more presence, but its hard for me to describe it as I do not have enough experience to explain sounds in these terms.

but it sounds awesome to me but I went from I guess a class d amp to A/B amp. but if I was to do it again I'd go with the P{arasound p-5 with its better features like Phono stage & headphone amp builtt in which the Vincent doesnt have, plus if you check out the back of the P-5 it has some cool features like crossover settings and such that makes ita better pre-amp.

So take your time and look everything over and plan it out so you don't jump the gun like i did. I love the Vincents sound but i also had to add a head-phone amp $500 plus phono stage $400.

for that total price I could have picked up a Music Fidelity M6i Integrated amp :( which would have been much better unit!

Sheesh, yeah music fidelitys are expensive!!!!!!! See I don't need a sub crossover, my monitor 10's do super on the low end, and was thinking of a headphone amp, but spending 500 on one lol and don't need a phono stage. I really want to improve on my tx8555, I'm any of the three would do it. I appreciate the reply to that

I will admit to having very little experience compared to most here.

One thing i can say, unequivocably, get at least one tube in the mix somewhere.

I had a very respectable adcom stack which included an adcom gfp750.

It hurt our 50 something ears, now i cant speak for others ears, but if we wanted to turn it up to let the sound and detail blossom, it hurt.

I now have a sonic frontiers sfl 1 with one little tube, and dawgfish has been kind enough to land a jolida jd9 phono pre on us.

Take it or leave it, tubes do something very special.

BTW, so do higher grade speaker wire, and ics.

At what point there are diminishing returns, its your call and your journey.

But as i sit here and listen to gino vanellis "Gist of the gemini", trust me, tubes are worth a try.

My Vincent are Hybrid tube pre-amp & amp with a vacuum tube "Class A" output stage, and I don't know how it might stand up to TUBE amps or pre-amps. but though it lack some features I miss, I have no plans to upgrade for a long while as I totally happy with its sound :)

Maybe if I heard something better in the future I'd want to switched but for now I perfectly set and don't need anything else :)

well except I wouldn't mind getter a newer better Turntable someday (but who doesn't)

I am really leaning to the Vincent sa31. I only need a few inputs, I like the two sets of preputs. It looks good with tone controls. The only gripe is no remote but I can live without.

Now I just need opinions on power conditioner, I have a loud buzz in my speakers, all I can use is a trip polite isobar 8 ultra, no filtering though.

Also those sacd players I mentioned and I'm good to go

I doubt a power conditioner is going to solve the buzz issue. You've got something wrong with a piece of your present gear.

Incorrect, I plugged my amp into that super outlet strip and the buzzing decreased almost completely. I'd get more of them but I need something I can use to switch everything on. Would it be worth it just to try a conditioner? If it doesn't help I can always send it back. There must be something I can use for the buzz. The buzz is isolated to my parasound hca-1500a

I have a Panamax M4300-pm line conditioner an when I plug my WOO Wa3 headphone amp into it I picked up a ground loop hum, and the only way I got rid of it was using a " Ebtech Hum X Voltage Hum Filter" from amazon.

now for a SACD player I bought the new Marantz 8005 SACD cause of its DAC can handle DSD, but its was $1200. There are some of the older model 8004 SACD units out there. I saw a few on ebay for around $630 but they all had no remotes and were like demos and such. the cheaper way is oppo 103 Blue-ray players but they only have HDMI connections. which is why I wanted a marantz for my 2 channel set-up as I already had a 103 in my HT set-up.

unless your really wanting to get into SACD which are a lot more expensive and can add up I would go with what Jesse recommended and look at some Marantz 6004 or 6005 model CD units.

You hunt for a good but cheaper SACD isn't going to be easy. as most are $$$$$ :(

If I plug it into my APC H15, it's almost dead silent.

My 1500A does the same thing.

If it's plugged direct to the wall I get a hum, it gets slightly louder after warming up.

If I plug it into my APC H15, it's almost dead silent.

My system is plugged into a dedicated 20A line.

Then it's just line noise or something unrelated to a problem with the amp. I have a feeling if I still had my lol sony ht receiver that had a hum coming from it, hooked on the same Tripp lite isobar, it would have quieted up to nothing too, had I had the super outlets at the time. I wish I could have a dedicated line but in an apartment there's really only so much you can do, like putting a fancy $8000 receptacle in..... Or a $3000 carbon fiber cover over it.... Prices greatly exaggerated of course,,, but still.

So you like that apc unit? Those conditioners are very cheap, are they nIce though?
