Boutique capacitors are inferior in every way...you know this Jesse. There is *no way* these can sound good. /sarcasm
Looks like a very fun project. Although, it would take a powerball win for me to even consider that kind of investment in time and money...hehe"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

you noticed the parts express BP also. Man all that cash outlay and cheap's out on the post...Well all I have to say is they are either VERY GOOD or he ran out of money I've used them I do think they are very nice BUT come on man -
That's about the best presentation of the Duelund Products I've seen. Too bad there are not a lot of 1%'ers out there that can afford such extravagant parts. Thankfully Jeff (SoniCraft) is still turning out a great product that's affordable for most, if not all. I can see using there (Duelund) resistors in the future now that the supply of the "old mills" resistors are drying up. I've measured and forced myself to try the "Made In Mexico" Mills and they are very disappointing. Sure would be nice to hear that Duelund speaker set-up and man what a gorges speaker. I only know one person on this planet that could do that fine of woodwork (drumiv).

Thanks for posting that Jesse. Gives me a new target to aim for. Wonder how much the inductors and caps cost? I'm guessing as much as a nice used car."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer

The cost is in the article. $12,402.18 in inductors, capacitors and resistors."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Ok, my take. Yeah, those caps are cool and deserve to be shown off, but I don't like the wood support he used, not elegant enough. I would build a wooden display case type enclosure with thick clear Lexan windows on the sides and top. The top would be on hinges to allow access. The case would still be low to the ground, but supported by large custom turned brass spikes to match the brass on the speakers. I would have all the wiring going under a large black FR4 board (unclad PCB) supported on isloation devices. He seems to think that the only vibrations will come through the floor when in fact most will be in the air. My idea addresses both and would be a helluva lot classier. Forget those copper connectors, bare copper oxidzes. All connections would be soldered with Cardas. He goes on about how the wires do not go thru the binding posts. So what, the wires are still in contact with them. Get some Cardas or WBT posts and do it right.Political Correctness'.........defined

^^^^I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought his design had a few flaws. I understand his want to showcase his investment, but I thought the connections should be hidden. Personally, I wouldn't buy $4k worth of cables that didn't have any better aesthetics than something that resembles white zip cord too, and I know that it is just cable dressing, but shouldn't that be included at that cost? With under board connections, he could have flipped most of the caps so that the leads went through the board and made a lot cleaner look. While I have yet to hear the Duelund Cast capacitors, a couple audio buddies have used them in their tube DAC's (similar to mine). They previously had V-cap (teflon) 2.2uF caps, Mundorf Silver, Gold, Oil 2.2uF prior to switching out both of the other caps for the Duelund Cast Copper PIO caps (the same as used in these crossovers).
He stated that the difference in audio was absolutely breathtaking. The Duelund Cast Copper PIO caps left both the V-cap (teflon) and Mundorf Silver/Gold/Oil caps in a shameful state. Here is a picture of his "work in progress" for his DAC. Those 2.2uF Duelund Cast copper PIO caps are HUGE!!

Wow, my projects, look like nothing compared to that!
The crossover project we are working on will definitely be on par, perhaps a notch or two above depending on your tastes. It will definitely look better, that I can say with complete certainty. Nice job and definitely nice components on this build. Those Duelund components are no joke. Thanks for posting this, Jesse. Pretty cool stuff.

Cheap at half the price! :-)
DK, how much of a sonic quality upgrade would you expect from this extreme mod?
