Doing some listening this afternoon and, man, my RTA12's never cease to amaze me. I don't know if someone like F1 or DSkip would sit on my couch and come to the same opinion or if I'm just lucky I haven't heard a true "audiophile" setup but I guess it doesn't really matter. Certain stereo effects on some songs sound like they're coming from the side of the room, excellent deep bass, no harshness or listening fatigue. Love 'em!

I think the same thing when I'm hearing music on the SDA 1Bs.

They are great speakers - I love mine as well. They sound even better with more power behind them - too much is just about right!

Sitting here listening to my newly acquired Polks starring at my center channel wondering if I forgot to turn the HT rig off again :)

I came really close to grabbing some 11T's but finally decided that they were just too big for my room. I found some 8TL's and really like them. I know the 11T's are much more speakers but we sometimes have to settle. Jealous, but share your love of POLK and enjoyment of those vintage RTA's!

I am consistently amazed by my RTA12's ability to make me sure there is a band playing where I know there is a wall. Awesome immersive sound, I lose hours in front of these things.

I agree about'loving your Polks". Until I got my 2Bs I was very content w/ the line-up I had which for my neck o'woods was pretty impressive. Coming from a pos Sharp HTIB to a real H/T then backed by a real power amp I was giddy. Now that r hole started with doing the mods on the SDAs and adding speakers and cables along the way. So now I have a decent vintage bdrm system of a Nikko 6065 receiver circa '76, JBL 2060 bookies and a $5 cdp. My big room line up has grown and it's been both rewarding and very satisfying to finally have a great hobby.

They do image incredibly well, 2nd only to SDA's IMHO. Sounds appear to float up and out to the sides as well as being anchored to a point between the speakers.

Have you done any mods to yours?

I just came back here because I hadn't listened to The Dark Side of the Moon on my RTA12s yet (only had 'em a month or so), or really at all in about 2 years. I think I might be smiling for the next week. My jaw dropped for Gilmours solo on "Time". I think I'm hooked, guys. I was actually just searching craigslist for more.

This statement is why a nicely done 2 channel front stage doesn't always need a center. A lot of things play into that, but I for one felt it was a downgrade to have a center as it actually pulled the soundstage below the screen. The phantom put the soundstage right where it should be - in the middle of the screen.
If I'm sitting in the sweet spot I agree, but my living room is a bit shallow, so anyone viewing off to the sides loses the center image.
