I read that the G.E. 5 Star 5670 is good.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Thanks.

I used to have a TubeDAC-09 and found that the JG black plate GE's were the best sounding to me. They had a more open sound than the rest I tried. I ran it with the stock tube first, then rolled in a 5670 W JAN GE and then the black plates. I was always on the lookout for the red five star GE 5670's because I heard that those were THE tube to use with the TubeDAC 09, but I never tracked any down. Hope that helps and happy listening.

Thanks, Marvda. I didn't even know that forum exists. I appreciate it!

    And than YOU, Breal!

as with anything YMMV depending on your gear...

The best sounding 2C51 type tubes are:

    1. CEA 2C51 Bendix
    2. JW 396A Western Electric
    3. Erickson 2C51
    4. GE 5670 Black plates

Bang for the buck...the GE's hands down. $19 a pair matched on market. Best in class is the Bendix tube. Long lived, neutral sound, nice air, quiet, and dynamic! On market around $100 a pair matched.

cut and pasted from Google search. "5670 tube equivalent"

I have found searches like this beneficial to get some reading in to help make decisions on which route to take.

Goodness. I googled 5670 audio tube but didn't put in that key word: "equivalent."

    Thanks, Pit.
