Stupid Blade/Blade IC question...

The polarity switch is done internally in the speaker's wiring and not in the wire itself correct?
I am ordering up the start of the upgrades/mods for the SDA 2s and thought I would start with the part I am missing first...the IC.
Plan is to follow Ray's lead and make a cable myself using AQ 14/2 Flex series cable with XLR 90* males into metal XLR females. Ordering the parts now but I wanted to ask the question while it was still in my head.

Correct the only thing that the B/b does is make sure you cannot switch it to create a direct short.I am ordering up the start of the upgrades/mods for the SDA 2s and thought I would start with the part I am missing first...the IC.

just make sure you do not get confused while in the cabinet. I wrote on the cabinet wall to be positive of the way wire was hooked up. i.e. Blue wire large blade white wire small blade. then just the opposite on the other cabinet. White wire large blade blue wire small blade. There will be no confusion down the line if you ever get rid of them -
Thanks man. I was fairly certain of that but just wanted to make absolutely sure."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Both do carry signal unlike the P/B which only the "pin" carries a signal unless you have a dreadnaught then it "blade" carries the ground.

I have one suggestion, SpeakOn connectors.Political Correctness'.........defined

Maybe eventually Jesse...when I have some SDAs I plan on keeping. These are "getting my feet wet" SDAs and I will ultimately flip them to put cash towards 3.1s or 2.3s (Would love to have a fully outfitted/updated set of 1.2s eventually)
For now, the locking XLRs will be "good enough"."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

My blade/blade SRS SDA 2s were converted to banana posts and speaker wire. Anything inherently wrong with that setup?

only if something falls across them to short out....Speakon's are the new flavor and work tremendously well. When I redid mine I also used good binding post's and I also put heat shrink tubing on the post also just in case(red on red, black on black). Shrunk down with enough to cover the ends so that the only metal seen is in the hole for banana plugs. -

Granted that most amplifiers won't throw that much power--and most listeners won't have the volume high enough to matter; but I wouldn't want the SDA connection to be under-rated for amperage.
I thought XLR connectors were typically used for voltage but not amperage duty. -
Ray AKA DarqueKnight here was the first to advocate the XLR for SDA IC here and had a thread on them. So yes they will work just fine.

XLR are used for low voltage and current signal connections, not high current speaker connections.
There is nothing wrong with using binding posts for the SDA connection, but the next buyer may be confused and hook up his amp to the wrong set of binding posts! Having separate SpeakOn connections and binding post shows that these are two different connections, and should be treated accordingly. -

Correct that is the biggest pitfall to binding post as SDA connection. When I did mine I labeled as such SDA connection and Amp connection. Unless someone really wants mine I most likely will have them for a long time to come... -
