PSW125 barely working....

Out of the blue my PSW125 is quiet almost to the point of inaudible. My receiver is a Yamaha rx-a730, & I first noticed this when reconfiguring the surround speakers using the YPAO automatic speaker "configure-er", where the sub wouldn't make just a tiny noise when it was it's "turn" getting noise sent to it (in the past it would be loud when responding to the YPAO program.) I have the volume set at 50% during the testing, as I have done in the past, and the sub is connected to the receiver via an monster RCA cord in the LRE location, which also has worked great in the past. Additionally I did replace the cord with no positive effect.
So, I called Yamaha & went through troubleshooting w/ them. To test the sub, I connected it 1st an old VCR with red/white audio outputs (yes I typed VCR LOL -sorry didn't want to dig the Blu-Ray player out of the entertainment center). I plugged the red/white into the red/white on back of the sub. When on full volume the sub was making some noise, but barely audible.
Thinking it may have been the ancient VCR's problem, I did the same test using a Mediacom digital cable box (using the red & white audio out RCA's). This test also resulted in faint noise from the sub at 100% volume and flipping every other knob/switch on the back in all positions.
So, Yamaha seemed to think it is a sub-amp problem, but since I'm getting "little noise", I am wondering if it could be something else, as if the amp was gone I would think there would be no noise coming from the sub, instead of the little bit of noise that I do get?
Hope this makes sense & sorry for the novel, but any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Erik
ps. sorry forgot to mention the sub is barely used - probably only during surround sound movies - definitely wasn't tested to its limits lately.

Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum, sorry you're having a problem. I agree something has gone wrong with the sub, either the bass amplifier or the woofer itself. The best thing to do is to call Polk's CS guys on Monday at 1-800-377-7655. If you've owned the sub for less that five years have the unit's serial number and date and place of purchase handy. The bass amplifier has a three year warranty and the woofer is five.
They'll help you get things worked out.
Regards, Ken
