Well I ended up with the 2.3tl's over the sda-srs after the selling took an offer I couldn't walk away from. The audition in his basement was far from impressive. Speakers in the middle of the room hooked to a cheesy 5 channel no name amp. After getting them back to my shop and hooked to clean power what a difference! Bass tighten right up even though they are still in the middle of the shop. Cant wait to place them in my home. Now will they knock my Infinity rs 3's out of there position? Thanks for the input and I'll be back for advise on upgrades as I go on.

Congrats on your new SDA's, the 2.3TL's are in the sweet spot of the SDA lineup. There are many mods that can bring these beauties back to better than new performance, n'joy!

Looks like someone made the trip up to St. Paul! (?)

I was hoping someone from the forum would pick those up and report on them here.

    They look great, congratulations!

Yeah kind of a interesting story behind the speakers. Family had to pack them up early on while he did some serious time in the pokie

Where these the ones up in Minneapolis? I was looking at those too if they were. On Craigslist for $1000, then on Ebay for $1100. Enjoy them, they sure did/do look nice!

They were in St Paul actually. He was open to best offer so I got them reduced for the price of the tweeter upgrade

After a little over a week with the new 2.3's I could not be more happy. Before they even left the shop I did the tweeter upgrade and changed the large inductor to a laminated steel core. Wow what a improvement. The original Sl-3000 tweets all had varying dates on them from original 1989 all the way to 1996 replacement date. Had to upgrade my power as my Sansui was not common ground. Future plans will include cross over caps. Yea the wallet is wide open. Now in the home listening area they provide a much better sound stage than my RS iii Infinity speakers.

That's good to "hear" upgrade the caps and resistors in due time and that will only add to the excitement, n'joy!

    Look new!
Yea those boxes bring back by 1990 memories.
The tweeter upgrade was a most needed update for mine as two of the 3000's were dead
    after all of these years.

Do the inductors too. I was surprised at how much improvement new Jantzen inductors brought after I had done all the other mods. Also recommend Gimpod's boards - higher quality than the originals and bigger so fitting everything is much easier. Both can be had through VR3 here on the forum.

I've been checking this site out. I did switch out the large low pass inductor but didn't think there would be any gain in the other inductors. The resistors also seem like there would be little need but I guess if I'm in there just as well.

The Gimpod boards are the best way to go I haven't done the inductors yet but if there is an improvement the fact I used the new boards will make that an easy switch.
