What Subwoofer?

My question is the subwoofer. I have an older Velodyne CHT12 which I am currently using and it sounds ok, but is only rated at 170watts. An audio friend suggested I look into a Polk PSW 505 which is rated at 300 watts. There is a refurbished one on e-bay for under $200.
Is the PSW as great as suggested? What other Subwoofers would work well with this system? any suggestions. Also would you go
refurbished with a subwoofer?
My system is a Denon avr 4520 ci and Polk rtia7's bi-amped, csia6 by-wired and rt600i in back.

Sky's the limit depending on your budget. How big is your room? Mainly HT or music too? The 505 is a great entry level HT sub but it's not particularly "musical".

I like music more then HT, however, I do like some light classical music with some bass and movies like Phantom of the Opera

My family room is about 20' x 30' with a fireplace and bookshelves in back.

That's a pretty big room. What's your budget?

That big of a room, look at HSU VTF-15 or SVS SB-13 or PB-12 plus. Of course if you can go bigger, that never hurts.
