I've gotta ask... are you related to the late Prof. Sig Suskind of JHU?
on topic: I have a mostly-refurbed Rek-O-Kut idler... not quite in the same league as the Thorens or a Fairchild, but not a hunk o' junk, either... need to acquire an appropriate arm for it... -

Yes he was my Dad.
He was a Hi Fi nut starting in the 50's
Owned a Miracord turntable,Elac cartridge, National Mono intergrated amp and a single Jensen speaker
My older brother and I would sit on the floor listening to great Hi Fi recordings of trains, cannons from the 1812 overture and race cars from Sebring... -
Thanks; thought so!
I knew your father moderately well during my rather protracted tenure (undergrad and grad) at JHU (BA 80 & PhD 86).

Hopkins -> Soundscape -> Polk was pretty much my ticket to audiophiledom; still have the Monitor Series Model 7As I bought in 1978... actually still have my second (sort of) "good" turntable (Philips AF-877) which was probably bought ca. 1979.
I'll post a photo of the R-O-K anon, just so I am not completely out of whack with this thread :-)

It's a three-speed and it's been re-rubbered. So far, so good.
I need to fabricate something to hold an arm... and (of course) source an arm. The goal is to put the DL-103 on this thing... although I do hear the siren song of 78s from time to time... -

This is one of the most beautiful audio components I've ever seen.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout. -
My latest table is a Phase Linear Model 8000 Series II. Picked it up this week from a former audio dealer that had it in storage. Absolutely mint condition and included several nice MM and MC cartridges. While it sounds stunning with my Bellari VP130 phono preamp, I've ordered a Pro-Ject Tube Box S so I can take advantage of the MC cartridges he included.
Now, George needs to post a new FS thread with some fresh vinyl so I can spend some more money.
