Replacement tweeter wiring question

Does it matter which side of a replacement tweeter gets the black/white wire? Unlike the SL2000 that died, the replacement doesn't have a discernable "up" or "down". I wired it up both ways and couldn't tell a difference in phasing while running the THX audio test, so I soldered it in. Now I'm having second thoughts.
Any suggestions?

Is there not a + mark in the plastic on the back surface?Political Correctness'.........defined

I am not sure about the tweeters, but on the replacement drivers I received from Polk, there was a red dot by the positive connector.

No marks of any kind on the plastic or the tweeter. I'm stumped. My little system:

That only works on a woofer Henry.
You plug a woofer up to a battery. Positive or negative, and if it is right it will move in then out, and if wrong out then in (I think).
A tweeter isnt that obvious, know what I mean? lol
Best way to do it, is wire it to where it sounds best. Best way to do this is put in a cd with a killer soundstage and listen, if its out of phased, u will have a SMALL soundstage (I would think)
But then again, I'm just talking out of my butt......I dont know........dont mind me, i need to go to bed

If I didn't mention previously, this is the BD0194-A replacement tweeter. Unfortunately, no instructions came with...
I'm familiar with the woofer trick using a battery, but that's no good here. I think I mentioned using the THX Audio Phasing test, but I couldn't tell a difference when the dvd switched between playing in & out of phase no matter which way I wired it.
Can a Polk engineer confirm: does it matter???My little system:

I have one of the new replacement tweeters for the SL3000, it has one terminal colored red, no other marks or paper label like the originals did. Are you sure one of the terminals wasn't colored red before you soldered the wires to them?
Anyway, I suggest you call Ken Swauger at Polk customer service. I am 100% positive he will have an answer for you.Political Correctness'.........defined

I didn't notice a red terminal -- but then I'm color-blind(!). I'm have to ask my wife to take a look and tell me if I missed it.
I'll definitely call Ken next week if I don't see a red terminal. Next dumb question -- which lead goes to red: white or black? I could pull the driver out to follow the wiring from the crossover, but don't really want to do that.
Thanks again -

Chris,
White is the positive lead and goes to the red terminal. Let us know what your wife finds or what Ken has to say.

For the BD0194-A tweeter:
Looking at the back of the tweeter ("magnet side"), there is supposed to be a small red dot denoting the negative terminal (mine doesn't have the dot). The other way to tell is by holding the tweeter with the part number facing up, the right terminal is postive, left terminal is negative. On some models, one terminal is larger than the other. The smaller terminal is positive.
Also, slight correction to F1's previous response -- the black wire is positive; white is negative.
Ken suggested putting a 2.5kHz tone through to the speakers to verify phasing. Unfortunately I don't have a signal generator, so I'll have to find a solo flute or violin phrase that I can put in repeat mode.
Mystery solved. Thanks everyone -- this has been frustating, yet educational.

Yea the white wire/black wire issue is also the same condition that applied to my Monitor 10B's....it was the reverse of what would be "normal".
The only way to really be sure is to trace it to the crossover.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I ran into the same problem while rebuilding my 8T's... during my 55 to 55i conversion I found that the connectors are unique between the plus minus. Polk probably did that in an effort to decrease the number of calls to Ken:p

Well, this is all very interesting.
On my SDA 2.3TL's the black wire goes to the red dot on the mids. The tweeters have white wires running to both terminals, one has a red piece of tape on it and goes to the small terminal. This is all very confusing, everything sounds right. I think I'll trace the wires from the crossover just to be sure.Political Correctness'.........defined
