looking at a couple in-wall subs for my audio room build...

I am trying to decide which to go with, and one question popping up is what to use for powering them? I am thinking of getting a pair of 7 channel amps to power the system, so my thinking is that I should be able to pull a channel from one of them for this purpose.

The room size is 20 foot on the main wall by 15 feet deep.

OneCall also has the matching amp for the Sunfire HRS subs... But your 7 channel amps could probably handle these (assuming your taste for high powered amps will be used here).

As another option why not use a Dayton SA1000 at half the price?

    John....

How much depth do you have for subs? IIRC you have a false wall so why not just build your own? Or go with IB (Infinite Baffle) since you are using a converted garage?

The garage was converted to a room as the house was being built, they just did a crappy job doing it. I would rather go with one that is designed well for what I am looking to do. I am leaning towards the Sunfire because it has the two 8's and a system to reduce vibrations.

John, what I am saying is, do you have enough space to custom build your own sub in a Larger box so you can get it to dig lower and flatter than either of those in wall options.

IIRC there is a gap between your front wall and the actual front wall. Why not build your own box using that space since otherwise its just dead airspace.

The dead air space is a 6 foot deep by 20 foot long closet. The TV is centered on that wall, with the SRS on either side and then the doors to enter the closet on either side of those, so all use-able space on that wall is occupied. That leaves the ceiling, or the walls for the sub. I could just go with a powered sub and not build it into the walls but would rather have a clean aesthetic, as the room's primary reason to exist is still for two channel listening and I hate the look of a big box in the middle of the room.

I gotcha. Thats what I was suggesting. Look at a Infinite baffle in the ceiling to use all that space as a box for the subs....... That would let it look just like you want, and you can get as much or little bass as you want.

Wow, $600 for a couple of 8's..and you have 1.2's for mains, and you are still in the building stages of the room? Suprised you would want such small subs and not go the larger more custom route?

How about two, or four 12's, 15's firing at each other in a manifold? Should help reduce vibrations along with dampening the rear walls. Should at least consider IB...

Could be as simple as this, $300 for two 15's and $200 for an amp.
