What exactly is bi-amping...?

No, that's if you're running one channel to a single speaker and connecting all four speaker terminals.
You'll be doubling up your runs. One set of cables from one amp channel to the upper terminals, then a separate set of cable from a second amp channel to the lower terminals.
That way, the amp thinks it's going to two separate places which is what you want it to think.
Then you'll need to make sure you have the IC splitter, so one RCA cable plugged into your pre's Left channel, but two RCA cables coming from that splitter going to the two designated amp channels, then repeat for the right channel.
Personally, I've done this before, and I didn't leave it that way. I don't of many that have tried it and stayed, everyone I know that's done it has gone back to conventional hook ups.
But, if you want the experience, go ahead.
LOL, yeah, I noticed that after I looked at the picture a little better:)
I forgot to edit the thread
But I am not sure what you are talking about with a splitter...

Thanks! -
most AVR's that have more then 5.1 channels tell you that you can use the un-used channels to bi-amp your front speakers - but thats not really true as it steals power from peter to pay paul
true bi-amping need's 2 seperate amps - not 1 avr with 11 channels that you use the unused channels bi-amp.
now you can do what the manual says by using 2 sets of cables for both you fronts and hook it up like the manual says and see how its sounds but as others have said you will probably be disappointed!
I have a AVR with pre-outs and I hooked up a 200watt x3 amp to power the front 2 speakers and center channel and then my AVR just has to power the 2 back surround speakers so its 120watt per channel rating with 2 driven is only driving 2 speakers and it sounds awesome
I now stay away from the thought of bi-amping and also bi-wiring (2 seperate things) as just 2 months ago I was asking all the same things you are asking

Things aren't lining up here. In your original post, you stated you had these; (Yamaha pre/pro CX-A5000 and the Yamaha 11.2 150 Watt/Channel amp MX_5000A...)
Now, you provided a link for this; (RX-A3030 and RX-A2030 AVreciever).
IF...you are using just an AVR, this is a complete waste of time. IF...you're using a pre and an amp, it's not as much as a waste but you need to go about the correct procedure.
So, if you're actually using a pre and an amp, I can help you Frankenstein your set up, it's just an AVR you're using, I don't have any recommendations.

Oh, sorry, I do not have either yet - I am deciding which way to go... either the A3030 AVR - or the pre/pro set-up CX-A5000 and MX-A5000...
If bi-amping doesn't yeild that much more (or anything) then I am leaning toward the A3030 AVR...
That make sense?

Do you have speakers at this time?? Are you serious about an upgrade for your current speakers??
Either RTiA and LSiM series will benefit from external amplification.
My suggestion; commit to a speaker series, then select an AVR/amplifier(s) for your set up, and putting away any notion about bi-amping.
Right now you appear to be going in several different directions, select a goal and streamline your action.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

If I were you, I'd take a step back and evaluate the goal. I've seen a few different posts from you pertaining to: pres/amps, avrs, RTiA series and LSiM series.

Well, easier said than done...:)
Before I came on here, I was set with the Yamaha A3030 AVR and the Polk RTi A9, CSi A6, F/Xi A6...
Then after getting some feedback - I began to look at the Yamaha pre/pro CX-A5000/MC-A5000 and the Polk LSiM 707, 706c, 702 f/x...
So, at this point I am pretty much sure I am going to go with the LSiM speakers...
I guess I just need to decide between the A3030 with 165 w/p/c - or the pre/pro CX-A5000/MX-A5000 with 150 w/p/c...
So yeah, I am pretty much using this forum for advice and as a sounding board.
There is a method to my madness -

The Audiophile Review article is very interesting....
Especially since he wasn't really bi-amping.
I love this line, shedding a bit of Bowers & Wilkins' trademark controlled and dry sound.
That's putting it politely, IMO. I still struggle to understand the appeal behind that sound signature.Political Correctness'.........defined
