I'm actually looking to listen to the the JBL's. My company is a JBL dealer while we do Synthesis systems, we can get the other JBL lines as well.
With your questions , there is no answer. There isn't any info to go on to even start to answer it.

The Polk RTIA9's are a fine speakers that performs very well for both music and movies. They are however movie first music second speakers.
JBL in general are a wonderful everything speaker company. I have no experience with the L890's but have done many huge JBL theaters that polk could never even come close to being in the same world with. That means nothing as polk and JBL are 2 very different companies.

    Therein is "the" problem...

I am interested in speakers that are for MUSIC FIRST; movies second...

    At twice the price? :)

If that was the case - I would move up to Paradigm Studios...

I would not. I find the LSIM's to outclass the Studio's in every way dollar for Dollar. I worked with Paradigm for many years and have done every single model they make. They IMO are not even close to worth the asking price. The polks have much more value dollar to dollar.
If LSI and LSIM are out of your price point , the RITA are a fine speaker , all of them. Compared to what JBL has to offer , without hearing your model your looking at I really can't say. From experience with their speakers I can't see you going wrong with them as everything they build at the price points are excellent quality and do their job well.
If I get my ears on a pair I will post about them.

    Interesting...

I never thought the LSI or LSIM speakers would be better than the Paradigm Studios...

The LSI line is not exactly better IMO but the LSIM line is. Now I'm basing my opinion on the LSIM 703's I demo'd at our store and in my home for a few weeks. I will tell you they are fantastic and worth listening to. I would absolutely own them if I didn't already own a speaker package I'm very happy with. The Studio series are good speakers don't get me wrong. I was actually trying to figure out a package that would suite me as sometimes the do sound pretty good but I never could lock down a system that worked. I tried so many different kinds of power amps and AVR's and never found a match. I love the way they look but not the way they sound.

If you are in the Houston area I could definitely help. I could probably also help if you were in Dallas, SA, Austin areas.
