Sad day indeed, Child actress Shirley Temple Black passed away Monday night at 11:00PM at home, she was 85. I can't tell you how many generations or lives were touched by her childhood movies , but back in her day(mid to late 30's ) she was America's biggest box office movie star. We will miss you!

My father was a former professional dancer and he sparked my interests in the likes of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, etc. Shirley Temple was always someone that I found to be amazing....so accomplished at such a young age. To be able to keep up with the likes of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and Buddy Ebsen (aka Barnaby Jones) was simply amazing. Her performance always brings a smile to my face. They sure don't make stars like those anymore.

Boy are we getting "old"! I bet NO ONE under 50 has any idea who she was (unless they know her from her second life as a politician). My father tried his hand as a crooner (a voice described as a cross between Crosby and Como) in the Big Band era. Just missed an appearance on the Arthur Godfrey show because he was out of town (missed his "big break"?). So I'm also familiar with the legacy of Shirley. Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Hope and Crosby, Abbott and Costello, the Marx Brothers, Benny Goodman, etc.
Another time another place, and MOST are GONE!
RIP!

Under 50 as well and I remember watching Shirley Temple movies on the weekends with the entire family sitting in front of the black & white RCA television.
For me, the best parts of her movies were when she danced with others, especially Bill Robinson. She was very talented at such a young age.
I own every Shirley Temple movie (and similar types of musicals) that have been made available in VHS / LaserDisc or DVD format.
I always look forward to the times that I can sit and watch movies with my family without having to keep my finger on the remote because of some of the inappropriate quotes that are so regular on today's TV programs.
My have times changed...
R.I.P. Shirley and thank you for the precious memories. -

Watched her for years since I was a child and got my daughter hooked on watching her movies. At least we will always have those. RIP, we will miss you.
I also just seen that Sid Caesar just died. All the great ones go in 3's. Hate to see who's next. -
Good Lady.
