TL1 Satellite Speaker Driver Replacement

Hi - I just purchased the TL1900 system and one of the satellite speakers had an issue with it. Polk is sending me a new driver to see if that may be the issue. I'm just wondering if anyone has some tips or instructions on how to change the driver on a TL1 satellite speaker. I am able to get the speaker grill off but from there I don't see any screws or anything else that I can remove to make the change. The driver is still on its way but was just curious if anyone had any tips on how this could be done? Seems like the hard plastic covering would need to be removed but I don't see how. Here is the product - http://www.polkaudio.com/products/tl1

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Check to see if the 4 rubber pieces that the grill posts go into come out. I think there maybe screws hiding under them. If there are just remove the screws and the 2 halves of the enclosure should come apart. The tweeter is most likely screwed into the front from behind. Good luck and keep us posted.

I will give that a shot. I tried a little with the rubber pieces but didn't get too aggressive because i thought they would tear apart. Thanks for the tip.

Polk may also include an instruction sheet with your replacement. Keep us up to date when you get the replacement.

I was able to get to the screws by removing the rubber stoppers. However, removing the rubber stoppers was a challenge because you can easily shred them to pieces trying to get them out. After taking a look at the inside and checking the connections and testing it out again, it appears to be working fine now but I will keep an eye (and ear) on it and replace the driver if needed.

    Hello,
They're called "catch cups" and Polk should be able to provide you with replacements.
