VSX-1020-K Powerful enough? Can't hear conversation in 5.1

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out if my receiver (VSX-1020-K) is strong enough to power my existing setup. I have 2 Rti A7's in the front, a Csi A6 in the center, in the rear are 2 F/XiA4's and my sub is a DSWpro550wi. Everything sounds great when watching TV, or in speaker config, the problem is when I'm watching movies (and most things in 5.1) I find the conversation is too quiet, and I have to turn up the volume. Then next action scene, everything is too loud and I have to turn down the volume... it get's old real quick. I have run the equalizer, using the included mic to balance the levels of the speakers, but it made little changes. I'm wondering if maybe my center isn't getting enough power due to the draw from the other speakers? Thanks for any input.

Have you tried bumping the center level up some?
